Hi there, I just have a question about using a capo in this lesson? I jsut recently got a capo, and Im trying to learn how to play this song with the capo and I can't quite understand how I will play the open strings in the picking patterns when my capo is on the 2nd fret? I've never used a capo before, so I'm not sure how to work with it in this song. Help would be much appreciated, because this is such a wonderful song!

Quote from David's lesson:
By the bye, if you're going to play along with the original recording (or this lesson's MP3 examples), it's once again time to get your trusty capo. On the recording, Julia is in the key of D. We'll be using our capo on the second fret and playing in the key of C.

It's easy.
If the capo is on the second fret, all the chords are moved up two frets.

So if the A chord is normally 002220,
with the capo on the second fret you would play 004440.
Notice the fretted strings are two frets higher than the capo
(just like the A chord is normally 2 frets higher than the nut).

In short,
Think of the capo as the nut.
And just play the chords the way you normally would . . . relative to the capo (movable nut).

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
