While walking past a magazine stand this sort of tumbled out. managed to record it in time. felt wierd though.
I think the store owner thought I was stealing secrets :-) ? My but we do live in interesting times.

Oh this definitely has a John Prine groove to it. Standard C F G7 sorta thing at least that's how I see it.

hope the muse sends me more verses cause I really like this one. Thoughts???

Saw a picture of Madonna
on the cover of a magazine
showed the veins in her hand
like a broken sex machine
no words were written there
the picture said it all
guess they won't be happy
till Humpty takes her fall

So I looked inside that magazine
see if I could learn some more
all I saw were perfect people
selling crap I can't afford
in a race to a brand new bottom
where a wrinkle is the new obscene
stupid people with too much money
bein crowned as kings and queens

Well it's a start ....
comments?

Hey gram99,

I think it's a good start. I like the first verse a lot. I would like to see you continue with your observations of other specific people. There's no reason only Madonna should be mentioned. good work. keep on writing.

I agree with everything Chefie has to say.

I'm not sure if you will want to use proper names though.

Madonna works because it also evokes artistic and religous
images. As in Madonna and Child.

As an example if you were to do a verse about
Micheal Jackson you might try something like:
I read the Pince fell from his throne
Left Neverland behind

This relates back to you Kings and Queens reference and
isn't as blatant as using the proper name.

I'm guessing that the second part would be a chorus?
That would work very well.

to be clear

there really was a picture of madonna the pop singer on the cover of People magazine with her hand circled showing her age. I wasn't referring to the religious madonna.
I wonder how I could refer to the singer and not the religious artifact without ruining the lyric. I guess I could just reference People magazine. thoughts

I wasn't suggesting you change Madonna the alternative images
actually are what makes it work so well. I was just saying that as you continue the song you may consider not using names or at least not
always.

Either way this is very good writing

gram,

Awesome lyrics on a very interesting and timely theme! The muse was definitely with you.

I can hear this as a Don Henley song (listen to The End of the Innocence album), or Jewel or Anna Nalick, or many others.

Keep writing!
