©2004 Nashvilles not my home
I met him at a wayside
Sitting under a big oak tree
He asked me for a dollar
As I asked directions to nashville Tennesse
He slid his weathered hat up.
Said son it aint that far
But I've seen more people fail there
Than become a country star
He said I aint never been to Hollywood
And I don't intend to go
I spent some time in Nashville
And found out Nashvilles not my home
But it dosn't matter what I say
I see your going to go
Just remember your one of many
Trying to make it to the big show
I handed him a dollar
And he tucked it in his coat
He grabbed his beat up guitar case
And slowly turned on down the road
I spent three years in Nashville
And never cut one big song
I stayed as long as I could
Just to prove that old man wrong
I guess I should have listened
That day under that oak
Cause I sure wish I had a dollar to tuck inside my coat
I aint never been to Hollywood
And I dont intend to go
I just spent three years in Nashville
And found out Nashvilles not my home
I cant say he didnt warn me
But I knew I had to go
Now I'm just another dreamer
That never made it to the big show

I like this song, a song I could hear on radio. The words flow well.
He said I aint never been to Hollywood
And I don't intend to go
I spent some time in Nashville
And found out Nashvilles not my home
The only thing I might suggest is at the beginning of line 2 and 4(chorus) to take out "and". Not hearing the music it probably fits just fine, but I don't think you need it, just by reading the lyrics
He said I ain't never been to Hollywood
I don't intend to go
I spent some time in Nashville
Found out Nashvilles not my home
Just a thought? :D Good job!
Thanks for the input. I do believe you are right. Take care. Nite.........

Sitting under a big oak tree
When a young fellea offers me a dollar
For directions to Nashville Tennesse
I aint never been to Hollywood

I just spent three years in Nashville
And found out Nashvilles not my home
Now I ain't gonna discourage you
Cause I see your gonna go
Maybe you'll be the lucky one
That makes it to the big show

Excellent...Excellent...Excellent!!
You help my interest through the entire song. I loved it!
You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.
Life is not about what I've done, what I should've done, what I could've done. Its about what I can do and what I will do.
Yes, I think the new ending is more satisfying (though I was kinda partial to the line about wishing for his dollar back).
Ice cream is a dish best served cold.
Thanks slowplay, yeah I liked the part about wishing for a dollar back to.I still trying to figure a way to incorperate some how. Thanks again Nite.......
