"Say Goodbye"
(©2005 Gwynne)

Say Goodbye

Holding on
Without a say
Take me with you
On your way

What is lost
While we're apart
Is heaven strong enough
To hold your heart

Sky you walk on
Clouds to sleep on
Angels will help you to fly
Letting go is never easy
Harder to say goodbye

Oh, say goodbye
Oh, say goodbye

Close my eyes
To see you again
Live in my dreams
Friend til the end

I'll be alone
Until the day
We meet once more
I'll be okay

Life will live on
I'll have to go on
Angels will help me get by
Letting go is never easy
Harder to say goodbye

Oh, say goodbye
Oh, say goodbye

BRIDGE
With God's love
Knowing you're above
I'll get through
Just like I always do

Oh, say goodbye x 4

Sky you walk on
Clouds to sleep on
Angels will help you to fly

Hey Rocket,

I loved this song before, and now... it just got even better. I really like the extra lines
Oh, say goodbye
Oh, say goodbye
and the harmony that you've got going in there. That works really well and gives the song a real professional sound.
I would like to see these lines
Letting go is never easy
Harder to say goodbye
back in that last chorus though, I think that it gives closure to the chorus. And given that the song is about goodbye I think that "Goodbye" should be the last word. Just my opinion. Other than that I can only agree The Celt "Very Very Nice ! " well done.

Ditto.

Sorry I can't be more constructive than that.

Rocketgirl,

I've been want to get back to this song with some more
in depth comments.

First off I was wrong the song is not "prefect" Pbee is
correct it should end with the words "say goodbye".
Since it appears to be about clousure then the song
itself should have some.

This is one of the most "professional" sounding songs
I have heard on the forums. The sound quality, mix
and harmonies give it a real finished feel.
Many of the song I listen to hear are good but are really
of a demo quality (That goes triple for my own)

I played this for my wife who works for our local Hospice
Care (caring for terminallly ill clients) and produces a
Community Access TV program on that subject.
She was very impressed with your song.
I may be getting back
to you in the future about using this for one of her projects.

The Bridge is a very effective part of this song and
for me really brings the whole song together and
presents a very real view of the mourning process.

Once again Very Very Nice!

This is one of those songs that as a songwriter I
listen to and say "Wow! I wish I had written that."

Thank You for sharing it with us.

John

Beautiful! Super job. :D

I quite liked the last chorus as it was, although I would have liked to have heard the last line just drawn out just a fraction longer, to give sightly more of an "end" feeling.

To me, missing off the goodbye part gave a feeling of acceptance, and a sense that you had now actually reached the point where you had been able to say goodbye through the song.

It was as if you had let go and left them in the care of the angels. But, for me, either version would be just as good - with only a slightly different feeling if it ended on the 'letting go' feel of "fly....." or the more wistful note of "goodbye....."

Lovely. Great to hear a full song with the music too. :D
