Sophisticated Lady
Sophisticated lady; Life has made her choice
Born into a rich mans world, daddy's pride and joy
She's living in a mansion, Monet's on the wall
Gets driven in a limo, don't like compact cars
Everything she wanted, was gotten very easily
Never once did she beg, or say yes thank-you, please
Chorus
Sophisticated Lady,
Blood that runs ice blue
My heart always skips a beat,
When I look at you
Hair is long and silky,
You simply look divine
On your hand, diamond rings,
Didn't cost you a dime
Everything you wanted,
Was gotten easily
Sophisticated lady
Won't break this heart of mine
Got married to a man of means, off the silver screen
Could shake it like Elvis, looked a little like James Dean
You won't find her hanging, around honky tonk bars
She's too busy mingling, with all them movie stars
Everything was going fine, ‘til life got to routine
Then she started looking for a different kind of cuisine
Chorus
The menu standing by her pool, was tasty that's for sure
Blond hair, blue eyed, his height was six foot four
He filled out his frame most deliciously
Then she started nibbling, thought no one else could see
Her husband got home later, oh what a surprise
Thought she might be cheating, had hired a private eye
Chorus
Now she's living single, life ain't that much fun
Spent all her inheritance, her lawyer won her none
Looking for a new love, someone to take his place
Someone to give her money, help her to save face
Sure would like to hold her, show her all my charm
But like a widow spider, she bites once then your gone

I like that, it tells a good story. I thought the first couple verses were the best and could even be enough for the whole song. I like it tho! :)
Interesting that Kira likes the first two, coz I particularly like the last!
But yeah, good stuff there. No entirely convinced by the third verse (The menu standing by her pool...etc) - feels a little forced, so you might look at that. Up to you.
Any musical ideas? It feels very lounge act-y to me - something maybe Ella Fitzgerald would've sung or Jamie Callum would sing, but I could be WAY off.
Keep it up!

Listen Louder Than You Play
Thanks for the comments Kira and G 8)
It seems long but sung fast it don't lol,
I guess I could drop the menu verse and it wouldn't take anything from the lyric itself.
Always got a tune in my head when I write, problem is the tune always stays the same.
Time to drop or rewrite, thanks guys :D
