I was messing about with slide this afternoon, came up with a nice riff, then lyrics came to me.......
The Only Way

This definitely needs a little work - but I'm happy with it as a foundation to work on......

you're right, it isn't very whythmic, but all the lines are there
good lines, some are pretty common, but they're not cliches, like "it's always darkest before dawn", that would be great if it was twisted around like maybe something with a waned moon,
some of the lines are boring just because of the words you used
You're feeling like the end of the world's at hand,
"like" doesn't really do anything, so it can go, and "You're feeling" is the old show not tell thing we all learned
"you've got a feeling the end of the world's at hand"
it's not really better, but it's more simple, and first lines don't want to confuse the listener at all

At last!!! A real critique - by which I mean someone's actually had the guts to stand up and say what they think.......!!!
yeah, I wasn't happy with this, and I really hate changing songs once they're finished.....
But then again, I was feling really "Bluesy" - lost my job so a bit P'd off....then I get to bed, and the one night I actually get to bed and go to sleep, what happens?
The Mrs develops a tickly cough - and she leaves the living room door open so the dogs get upstairs andI now have 3 (count em) bitches kisssing my face and keeping me awake........
