I've been wanting to learn piano, I think itll give me a better handle on theory.

And recently I've really gotten into violin, but I think its too late to start now. People tell me you gotta start young.

Of course not! There's nothing special with violin making it imperative to start young. If you want to - do it! That being said, there is probably easier instruments to learn (recorder comes to mind) but hey, we like challenges dont we? My self, I started young, quitted young and restarted... ehm what am I .. when I was alomst 30. I know many of the tunes by heart still, but my technique isn't up to playing them anymore... :( :(

Edit - my mother in law started when she was 65.

...only thing I know how to do is to keep on keepin' on...

First instrument I ever played was a guitar. I had to make a deal with my parents that if I took an instrument in school, they'd let me play guitar. (notice they said, LET, not buy) So to appease them I took violin while in 5th grade. In 6th I took Baritone. In 7th I took Trombone. Try carrying one of those to school on your bike.

Junior high is when I took up drums after guitar. That's been the main instrument since then. In 1991 I rented a Alto Sax for 30 days to get a feel for it. That was cool. I dabble in keyboards but know nothing significant.

So currently it's drums and guitar.

I used to play the trumpet, it was pretty much my first instrument (i can't fully remember if i played trumpet or guitar first). I played drums in high school (I played drums in my first band actually), I'm currently working on violin, piano and harmonica... but my main focus is and always has been guitar.

I also have tried singing, although I don't have much confidence in my voice, even though i've been told it's decent.

I can play good solid drums, but nothing fancy. I used to be pretty good on piano when I owned one about 10 years ago, I would have to start over again on that. I also used to be pretty good on blues harp, but haven't played that in years either. I can play bass, but sound more like a guitar player than a real bass player on it. Years ago I was in a band with a trumpet player who was giving me lessons. I could cover some Chuck Mangione. 8) Now, I probably couldn't get a sound out of one.

I love all instruments, but guitar takes all my time.

I play guitar as my main instrument. I can play bass well, but do not own one. I had my friends for about a week once, it was nice. I can play and handful of chords on madolin and piano, as well as some licks/riffs. I have a chromatic and a blues harmonic. I'm a lot better with the blues but not where I'd like to be with either.

I've always played a lot of instruments - I played four in one band (guitar, pedal steel, piano, and saxohpone). I studied percussion at a univeristy - snare, timpani, and marimba, and I played drums for quite a while as well (I still do a bit). I took piano lessons for years and probably play piano just about as much as I play guitar. I played traditional Irish music for several years and played penny whistle, guitar, mandolin, and uilleann pipes and button accoridion very briefly. I also played violin and voila in orchestra from grade school through college...I'm sure there's more, but now I pretty much stick with guitar, lap steel, mandolin, penny whistle, and piano...and that's still too many :)

I only play the guitar, but I've been interested in the bass, the banjo, the harmonica, and the violin. If it's any consolation I play electric/acoustic/classical :o

Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.

As well as guitar.....dabble on keyboards, a little harmonica, playing bass a lot just lately, and like all brits of a certain age, learned recorder in school...

I'd love to play Saxophone, but the price is a little off-putting, even for a second-hand one...suppose I'll just have to keep buying blues harps....

:D :D :D

I can probably pick up the flute and relearn that quickly. I play a little bit of harmonica (mostly to disguise my guitar playing  ).
I admire people who can play piano.

I also admire those who are proficient at an instrument we have all played at one time or another: voice.
