Hi everyone... as I stated in a previous post, my reverence for Gibson has certainly subsided recently as I've witnessed some serious quality control issues with guitars I've played at local shops. Specifically, the Les Paul's that I tried did not come close to living up to the $1800+ price tags...
So, what do you think is the best Les Paul copy/kock-off/style out there?
Some possibilities... PRS singlecut, Epiphone Les Paul, Heritage, Guild Bluesbird, ESP, Washburn Idol series, Agile, Michael Kelly, Hamer Monaco, etc...

Schecter guitars have a nice warm tone or the chunk when you want it.

I like the Japanese Epiphones as an alternative to the lower priced Gibsons, but I haven't tried the Agiles. I would dearly love to get my hands on a Heritage though.

I like the look of the Yamaha AES guitars ( http://www.yamaha.com/guitars/aes/0,,CTID%253D600002,00.html ). Tho not strictly LP copies, they somehow seem strangely alike in my mind (especially the 920). I haven't played one, so for all I know they may be awful guitars, but I do think they look awesome.

Look good, good quality, but they feel much different than a LP.
I'll suggest the Ibanez Artist solidbody series -- same construction as mahogany/maple LP, but double cutaway. The late 70s/80s versions are especially nice.

AGILE I can personally vouch for....The best bang for the buck as far as I am concerned and Rondo Music (the only seller of Agiles) has the BEST return policy if you don't like the guitar.

When you move up the price ladder, however, Epiphones are really nice...
if you're looking for a nearly-exact copy, i'd say that Epiphoneis the way to go, seeing as they are a Gibson company and whatnot. the Yamahas and the PRS guitars and Ibanez guitars are kinda like LP "inspired" guitars. i dont consider them real knockoffs. for it to be a knockoff, it's gotta like strikingly similar to the real thing.
