From time to time, I see people playing acoustic guitar and drumming on it at the same time. I'm unable to find any information on this technique on the internet, and some tips would be helpful. Does anyone know anything about doing this? Have any tips to share?
Thanks

Nope, that's not it. Still a cool technique though.

Check out Preston Reed's music.
You'll see it used a lot in Flamenco guitar music. Also in (I think) Roland Dyens's "Tango en Skai"

Sometimes folks will sort of tap out the rhythm on a guitar, I do it if I can't play the song when I'm jammin
Gheck out String Cheese Incident's DVD of their Austin City Limits appearance. There is one song where the drummer is ponding out the rhythm on Bill Nershi's acoustic guitar while Bill is playing it. Pretty cool stuff.

Check out Rodrigo Y Gabriela on youtube if you like this kind of thing.
They are quite good and they use lots of percussion techniques.
Ignore they cheesy Stairway to heaven thing though.
