Throw in Clapton when he was with Cream.

I have a Les Paul, and I regret it a little bit because it doesn't have the double cut-away that the SG has (although they make LP's like that as well) I've played a few SG's, and they sound great, although in my opinion, not quite as fat/smooth sounding as a LP.

I got a gibson for under $600 a few years back. It was a Musician's Friend sale. It came with a nice leather Gibson strap and a gig bag. It is my #1, even though it is not my most expensive guitar nor my prettiest guitar.

Pete Townsend almost always used an SG, in fact, he is probably responsible for it's popularity. And he had pretty awesome tone too.

I thought Pete uses Strats. I've only seen him live once, which was earlier this year, and he was using a strat at that time (and a wall of fender combos, something like 12 or 16 of them in two rows facing each other, two high; could not make out what kind).
