Hi, i'm thinking of building a new guitar from scratch.
After browsing round the internet, i am now quite taken by the idea, so was wondering how many of you have experience's of this field and if you found any major pitfalls etc.
Particulary intrested in guys/girls from the uk, how you sourced the right suppliers etc, do you have any good/bad storys that you can tell.
How did you all decide on your designs were they pre-determined by already manufactured models that you liked etc.
So if anybody with any intrest in this is out there or if you have already tried it yourself, lets hear your storys.
p.s any recommened boooks on guitar building.
Thanks
Mike

I am building lap steel guitars. I found these suppliers to be useful
not only do they carry supplies and tools, but they also sell kits and how to books.
cheers Dogbite,
I have decided to start with the following two books : make your own electric guitar by Melvyn Hiscock and building electric guitars by Martin Koch, hopefully should have them in a couple of days as i have just ordered them from Amazon.
As for material at the moment i am looking at a swamp ash body in a Fender style, but there's abit of research to do yet when the books get here.
Thanks Mike
