Great Job Everybody

Well I guess I should start in order.

Me: No real surprises here. Pretty much the type of minor Blues
I'm most comfortable with.
I think it is a fairly solid performance with a nice mix on the 3 guitar tracks.
I like the minimal production just volume and stereo separation
and all tracks were one take each.
I was looking for a more or less live sound warts and all.

Arjen: I never knew the Dutch language was so beautiful.
Great guitar work on this. I find it reminds me of Gary Moore.
I like the back and forth with the translation at the end but would
still enjoy it if it were only in Dutch.

TR:Wow you nailed the tone perfectly. Brought back a lot of memories
on my old band from High School Days. I like the vocals. Not the way
Alice sang it but I like what you brought to the table.

Dog, Dog and Pbee: So many guitar tones and all of them excellent.
None of it sounds note for note Page but I thing it is very much in the
spirit of Page. At first I was concerned about how Paul's voice would
work on this. No concern now. Very Very Nice

Thanks John. I thought your song had a nice groove to it. One take...I'm impressed :D

I just loved TR's take on Schools Out. Thats one of my favorite tunes of all time and he did it with attitude  Not to mention in a style of his own.

Arjen posted his at the last minute. It was a very pleasant surprise. With Arjen you never know what he will post next, and I'm a big fan of his. But "The life Sucks Blues" really has some powerful emotion mixed in, not to mention some of his best guitar playing to date IMHO.

Paul Brady probably lives in fear of my PM's, Mainly because what I'm likely to ask him to do vocals to  I
love to challenge Paul, He has a very good voice thats all his own.(last time I think it was "Wicked Game" which he soundly rose to the occasion :D So when I asked him to do "Dazed and Confused" he had never heard the song before. I knew this was going to be great  So I sent him the Ben harper and Yardbirds versions one you tube for some reference. Once again Paul met the challenge with flying colors. And Randy really Did a great job with the lap steel and Wah guitar. Randy is amazing with his licks 8)

Thanks guys you all Rock!!

OK ...... Dazed and Confused is playing now ..... I LOVE IT! Great guitar tone! Very cool with the slide and all too! 8)

OK ... Now I got Arjen playing ........ GREAT TONE! I like the reverb. Quality recording technique also. The vocals were exellent as well. Very nice!

Got Celt's thing working now ....... NICE as well! Very relaxing to listen to. Smooth and well timed. ANother great job!

Mine? ...... Well, lets just say after listening to everyone else I need to get practicing I think. Oh, as for in my own style, that's just lack of vocal ability in spades.

As for the guitar tone ..... that's my Kramer Standard Pro through my Sans Amp Tri OD (set to Brittish tone) into my Epi Valve Junior Head via my new Epi cab mic'd with a Shure SM57 close up and a cheap Nady Starfire SM58 clone far away.

What did everyone else use?

John, “T shirt Triple Layer Sundea” is just great mate I love it, just my kind of blues you did an excellent job.

Arjen, man you have such a smooooooth voice, that was a pleasure to listen to. And the guitar playing, well I'm with the dog on this one, just beautiful.

Hey TR nice job,
Oh, as for in my own style, that's just lack of vocal ability in spades
mate I liked the way that you made the song your own vocally and didn't try to be Alice, by doing that you put your own feeling into it and that's what comes across. I thought the guitar work was great as well. Yeah like John I got a bit nostalgic there too.

Ken and Randy I think “Dazed & Confused” came together very nicely, thanks guys, it's always nice to be backed by great musicians, you guys were awesome.
pbee vocals.....No concern now
Thanks John

Cheers
Paul

Mine was very simple. My SG faded special into a 1966 Sears Silvertone
5 watt amp and mic'd with a Radio Shack computer mic.

Left channel bridge pickup Right channel neck and Center both if I
remember correctly.

The title came from my grandson Zachary showing up wearing a
T shirt with a picture of an SG which inspired me to use mine.
The Triple Layer is self explanatory and Sundae just because.

What did everyone else use?
Just my Guyatone (Japanese kids-guitar from the 60s, only one, neck, pup and one volume pot) into Amplitube2. Picked a 'vintage Marshall' model and the onboard reverb. I find that the more basic sounds really work well (same with those EVJ amps, for example!).

Anyway, I'll comment on each track once I can give it a proper listen. Looking forward to it. :)

You got to love that old low tech equipment.

Oh I just listened to your's again and it seems I was mistaken
It is all in Dutch. Just a few of the words song similar to English.

Did you say something about the city of New Orleans in the
first verse?

I used the 51, bridge pup through my GMX 212 with the marshall setting on high gain for lead. Then the strat with the twin reverb setting on low gain with the GMX for rhythm guitar.I didn't bother to mic the amp, just put the line out through the mixer.

Well thanks Ken ... don't know what to say. The others were all so good. I just did what comes naturally. Just when I was down on my playing too ......
