my favorite time of year. candy, kids, masks, costumes, scary stuff. the best part is the fall leafage under foot.
I'm too old to trick or treat. I love carving pumpkins. and then I get to go to my friend's band's annual gig. what a crowd!

anyone gigging tonight? anyone going to wear a costume? not me, I am going to a jam. it will be candle lit and we're all planning on making scary noises.

here is a fun site for pumpkin carving:

we've turned our front yard into a graveyard, and rigged up some music for atmosphere.

I'm going out with the kiddies.

I wrapped a newspaper ’round my head

Well no gigs tonight..or actually ever yet..but we do have practice and like every other one there will be many scary noises.

There might be a little costumes worn...I have a black velvet top hat or my pink pimp hat with feathers that I might wear, just for atmosphere.

My house is on a hill an usually the kids skip it because it's a haul walking up the driveway and I'm sure when they hear the music that will be enough to scare them away.

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!

Halloween isnt really a big deal this side of the pond - i wish it was though - any excuse to party. would you believe there a NO horror films on the box tonight??

anyway, we are gigging tomorrow and that will be horrifying enough!!
enjoy your jam

no Halloween in the UK? I read that the tradition was bought to the states by the Irish and Scots in the 19th century.

Must be quiet up your end of Lancashire, Almann1979, because for the last four hours or so here there's been nothing but incessant knocking on doors up and down the street - kids trick-or-treating.

Having said that, Bonfire Night - November the 5th - has always been a bigger event over here. Never quite got the hang of it myself - why celebrate Guy Fawkes night, when he actually FAILED to blow up the Houses of Parliament? Five or six hundred politicians in one go - now THAT would have been worth celebrating!

:D :D :D

Hey Vic, apparently Guy Fawkes is the only person to have ever entered Parliament with honest intentions

I think it best if we not have bonfires here in the States . . . most especially the day after Elections . . .
We might start our own version of Guy Fawkes day and burn down the capitol . . .
I hope those bots don't report this post . . . I could have someone breaking my door down . . . thinking I'm advocating . . .

This past summer, someone took a picture of me playing basketball. (Shirts n Skins.) I was on the skins team. I hung it on my front door Halloween night. Not one person dared to knock on the door. Someone emptied the contents of their stomach on my front lawn. D'ever see what a Snickers bar looks like after it's been in your stomach for a 1/2 hour?

I had a light turn out. only a handful of the local kids for trick or treating. now I have a huge bowl of candy left over.
maybe I should experiment and see what three kind of candy bars look like after a half hour.
blueline, now where do you live?

I'm in northeastern New Jersey. Actually had a very light turnout as well. Friday nights are reserved for hockey practice and since both my kids were with friends, I had a very rare "2 hours" to myself and decided to play my guitar before going to practice. So, I put iTunes on shuffle, turned my amp up to 11 and went nuts. I suppose the doorbell may have rang once or twice but I never heard it.

We got one bunch of trick-or-treaters in our village. Eight kids, complete with parental escort and somebody's kid bro in a buggy. I handed out fun-size choccie bars from my box of 25 bought just for the purpose, and then Kath and I went and scoffed the rest ourselves yesterday afternoon.

Great occasion, Halloween. My orchestra leader's into Wicca, so he would have been dancing skyclad in the forest. The mind bogggles.
