That works for me.
Y'all give at least me too much credit. Ringers indeed. Done rung is more like it.
Please, please, please don't feel obligated to try this one, but if you'd like to try an original, I do happen to have a set of lyrics for a bluesy number, with kind of a walking feel to the bass. Maybe some marimba, maybe some melodica, maybe some fishing line mandolin....Tom Waitsy...
Walkin' man © Nick Torres 2003
Walk on down to Mickey's bar and grill
Pull up my stool, drinkin' beer after beer
I sit and drink until I get my fill
drownin' my sorrows tear after tear.
Walked down Main to the five and dime
got me a calendar shows me the date
got me a watch, what a waste of time
all it ever tells me is, it's too late
Chorus:
I'm a walkin' man, a man just like you
Lost my reason on the road, got nothin' to do
I'm a walkin' man, tryin' to walk on home
I'm a walkin' lost, walkin alone
Walked on down to Smitty's liquor store
Chuck at the register he knows my pain
He says "You can't be drunk 'cause you need some more"
got a fifth of cheap bourbon, it's all the same
Walked on down to the park to sit
watch the moms watch the kids go running by
I put up my feet to rest them a bit
Mom, she's watching me, corner of her eye
Chorus:
I'm a walkin' man, a man just like you
Lost my reason on the road, got nothin' to do
I'm a walkin' man, tryin' to walk on home
I'm a walkin' lost, walkin alone
Walked on down that night on south ninety five
past underpass condos of rags and bones
headlights and diesel move like they're alive
walkin' 'cross the water, walkin' on home
I'm on it...
And, by the bye, not to worry about the whole "ringers" thing. None of us are in to "win" as much as to have fun. I think that Blueline's got a great idea and right now the thing is to simply get it going. We can all change partners after the trial run...
Peace
okay by me, as long as Nick honors the excess groupie clause in our agreement

I think Arjen should start his own virtual band. I mean who's going to conform to who with that band? Is dhodge going Industrial/Electronic?
Both Nick and I do that sort of thing. Although I don't recall any of David's works going in that direction, he's all about learning ... The big question might be who mixes and masters. I'm guessing: least three control freaks in the bunch.

Soooooo - I just got back from a couple of weeks or so enforced leave. Seems I always miss the good stuff. Or have I? Is this still going?
Stationary Rocks - heh heh! I like the other suggestion though - the "Over-Forty Licks".......and if you want to do an original instead of a cover, I have a Stones-style song I did a few weeks back (Devil In The Boy) on my soundclick site that's crying out to be done by a band......I even did it in open G for, ermmmm, authenticity.....just a suggestion.
Thanks for thinking of me BTW.....tis nice to feel wanted.

Welcome back Vic. I tried to recruit you but Roy and the gang started looking at me with their eyes all squinty like. Were ya been man?

'enforced leave'? how mysterious. yes Vic. I believe you have been drafted. I like "over Forty Licks" too.
say, that was a good 'Stones" song you wrote. I would be fine with that.

So Vic and others,
Here's a 20 second or so sample of VIC's Song with some Drums.
http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6547640
I think its important to lay down a drum track first. Its much easier to play in time with drums, vs a drummer trying to keep time with a guitarist etc.... ???? Make sense?
I didn't render the whole thing cuz the timing goes off so fast.
I know my drumming isn't spot on, it was just one take and I pressed record... but I'd be wiliing to work on this though over the weekend a put together a solid beat, then if you wanna take that track and record over it...???
Thoughts?
