Alot of bands cite Black Sabbath as influencing their music and their simple guitar riffs and drumlines are so enjoyable to listen to and even more fun to play. I was just wondering what everyones' fav Sabbath song is? For me "the Wizard" is best w/ "Sweet Leaf" in close second. There should be more songs w/ the overdriven harp following the guitar!

That is WAY too tough of a question. :)

Sabbath was my high school band... before I heard Rush, they were the kings.

In general, I really love the early stuff, but the band came in to their own with regards to songwriting in the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath/Sabotage era, in my humble opinion.

Anyway, instead of saying my favorite, I will list two personal favorites that I consider underrated gems.

After Forever (Master of Reality)

Spiral Architect (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath)

You really can't go wrong with the first 6 albums.

Ha ha, I'm much younger than Vic - I was 13 when Heaven and Hell was released, with the big-voiced elf on vocals.

A vote for the Dio era!

Well I was in high school when Heaven & Hell came out so that put's me in between Vic and slejhamer (WAIT!! That don't sound right!!   !!!!).

I am going to cheat and give 2 songs: One from the Ozzy era and one from Dio.

Ozzy Era: N.I.B.

Dio Era: Heaven & Hell

It's amazing that Tony Iomni created such amazing riffs yet they are fairly simple to play. They sound so full and IMO better han ANY shredder.

If I cut the tips of my frethand fingers and melt plastic bottlecaps to them w/ leather covers I'll sound just like Tony Iommi right? Well maybe I'll practice alittle more first....Ironman has to be one of the most common songs people learn when starting out I would guess. I am rather fond of the santa claus version.
