Here's a band I always felt guilty about liking - the clothes; the hair; the music; it could only be the 70's. Possibly the tackiest band of the whole glam-rock era. I feel slightly less guilty about liking this now...last time we went to a (60's/70's retro disco) club, this was played in between "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" by Meatloaf and "(747)Strangers In The Night" by Saxon, and all the teenagers - my daughter's age group - were singing along to it!

LOL! Great clip, Vic. That's the most 'polite' Glam I ever heard.

Hey TP, did you by any chance mean "Delilah?" That was also a hit for the Sensational Alex Harvey Band in the 70's.....

TR did one I like, called Frankie Goes To Southwood. I believe Southwood is a mental institution.

Guess I can't call it a "guilty pleasure," but I certainly take pleasure in listening to the music my online friends record.

I had completely forgotten that song and video. :D

I always liked Slade, but they wore some embarrasing outfits. But they played great music. Check out this video, I especially like the Egyptian outfit the lead guitarist is wearing.

Most guilty, and most pleasurable:

Celtic Woman Um, how exactly did DAVID get to be a Celtic Woman?

I swear, he's NOT part of what makes this a guilty pleasure. Now, Mairead and her fiddle, that's another story ...

What's wrong with liking Tom Jones? The man's an incredible performer and generates an amazing amount of energy on stage. I can understand the ladies' urge to throw their panties at him.

Lawrence Welk's biography is a pretty good read. He played the music he wanted to play, and he played it well. The orchestra behind him was tight as a tick on a drunk dog.

Pleasures yes, guilty - I don't think so.

Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.

The version of Mama Weer all Crazee Now that I grew up with was Slade's. And Slade certainly won the ugliest band in the world award away from the Stones.

I loved Slade, they were loud, raucous and fun. Live, they were VERY loud indeed! Their first hit album was a live album - there's a pretty good version of Born To Be Wild on there. But the clothes - oh dear! Almost, but not quite, as bad as the Sweet, and of course there was always Gary Glitter.......

And of course Slade are responsible for the all time great Xmas rocker - Merry Xmas Ev'rybody. That gets played a lot every Xmas - I saw an interview last year with Noddy (the singer) and he referred to the song as "The Pension Plan."

I thought I would have a look at some of the stuff I had in the attic. Vinyl, tapes etc. and found these little gems that I probably wouldn't normally own up to

R. Dean Taylor-------------------Indiana Wants Me.--(Used to love smooching to this one as a last dance of the night)

Bobby Bloom---------------------Montego Bay.------ (Always reminds me of my tech college days was always on in the café )

Ashton, Gardner & Dyke--------Resurrection Shuffle-----(Loved the groove to this one)

CCS-------------------------------Tap turns on the water----(Good full band song trumpets and all)

Billy Swan------------------------I Can Help-----------------( another one with a terrific groove)

Johnny Cymbal------------------Mr. Bass Man--------------(reminds me of my childhood, now thats a good enough reason)

Edited 18/07/07 with thanks to Vic Lewis.

Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!

What happened to all your "Trojan Reggae" stuff Rod? Is it best forgotten?

eg "Long Shot Kick De Bucket" The Pioneers

Bet this stirs up your memory of long nights at the "Golden Cross" pub Cirencester early 1970's Girls in a line one side of the dancefloor and Lads the other side in a line. Crombie coats, bright coloured hankerchiefs neatly folded and pinned with a tie pin on display in the breast pocket, Prince Of Wales check trousers, Ben Sherman shirts and Broge shoes.

Missed out on all that myself but I had the Lambretta.

Here's a memory jogger:
