Since Jan 24th I've been listening to Status Quo a lot....saw them in concert, they were great....went out the next day and bought the CD and DVD...XS All Areas....They're on in Edinburgh and Glasgow next weekend, I feel a trip to Scotland coming on......

And CCR are never very far away from my stereo or computer....and Fogerty's playing in Paris and Amsterdam next month....hmmmm......

:D :D :D

Fogerty's on the cover of Guitar World Acoustic this month. When asked how he "reconnected" with acoustic playing, he replied, "The first answer is that I practiced. And I needed to--I mean, I was woeful. Rock and roll guitar playing is full of all kinds of acceptable bad habits." (i.e not using his little finger) ... " So I started to examine my own playing and found there were a lot of things wrong with my game..."

Nice to see this humility coming from the leader of one of the most popular bands of the early 70's...

I have been listening to a lot of CCR lately. Mostly been mining for short easy songs, like "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" etc., that a newbie guitarist can do :)

As well, R.E.M., Maroon5

Also, the compilation disc included in last month's edition of the UK magazine, Uncut which featured "Songs Influenced by Bob Dylan". My two favourites, being Warren Zevon's cover of "Knocking on Heaven's Door"; and Mary Lee's Corvette's cover of "Shelter From The Storm"

Fogarty has always had an inferiority complex about his guitar playing. I recall him making similar statements years ago right after releasing his solo comeback album 'Centerfield.'

My current playlist:

Franz Ferdinand
The Killers
Beck
Patty Griffin
Modest Mouse

It's on the shelves in the US, but there's been no promotion here either. Very low key.

This week, lots of McCartney again -- since I'm psyched about having scored tickets.
