that looks like it was made in the 50's-nice job :D :D
thanks. that's the idea. I took two of the body's curves from a fifties abstract painting. then adapted it to what I saw in my head.
the real breakthrough was the metal plate covering the electronics.
originally I wanted to have nothing but wood; but mounting the pots and pup were difficult. I found a stack of bronze/copper sheet metal (my dad was a jeweler and when he passed away I got all his stuff. the sheet metal was in a box.) I didnt like the shininess so I hung it suspended in a large bucket with ammonia . the fumes darkened the metal nicely. I clear coated it to preserve the patina.
I saw a actual Artisan today. what were they thinking when they put the jack where it is? dumb asses. it's so easy to mount those things. mine is mounted on the side near the pots. I used a metal jack plate for a LesPaul. got it from Stwemac. clean and cool looking.
Yeah, the Artisan's jack location is stupid. Wasn't designed by a player. But a right angle plug on the cable makes it work fine. For the price, I won't fuss about it.

I'm using that travel guitar I got at the yard sale for $15 for my lap steel. Here's a link to it http://homestore3.com/mariielguitw.html
I used it to record the redone version of Before you accuse me
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.

Thats the thing about playin the blues, it can sound better on a cheap $15 guitar than on a $2500.oo less paul, not that the lp sounds bad mind you, but there is just something about getting a cool sound on a cheap guitar that is truly satisfying :D :D :D --the dog
Yep! I've always been a big fan of cheap guitars.

I feel a shopping trip coming on tomorrow...nothing heavy, just new strings...going to use the Squier Tele exclusively for slide, and probably the yamaha cut-away acoustic for slide...depending on whether the "Mystery Guitar" (see "Guitar Player's Discussion" forum) can be fitted with a bridge p/u at reasonable cost and without major surgery...I may just have a look at lap steels while I'm there.....

Might as well.
Today I'm sliding on the Agile semihollowbody, which is great for quiet practice in the back office, unplugged. Started off playing "Walking Blues," and drifted into OLD Christmas songs. Like "March of the Kings" and "Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming," in Open G.
