I don't have a tune for this. The working title is "Distracted."

It fills my head night and day.
I can't make it go away.
Sometimes I think I might be crazy.
Get nothing done, so maybe I'm just lazy.

I talk to people, but my mind's not there.
They ask me a question and get a blank stare.
Could you repeat the question, please?
Maybe I can answer it and appease.

I wish I could set this thing aside
But it comes back from deep inside.
I finish a task and start over again
Like Sisyphus, I never get to the end.

I'm sorry for the way I've acted.
This thing has got me really distracted.

Hi Renee,

Good start :D I like the rhymes and reference to Sisyphus. I think you got the lyrics vague enough. I can't get a strong sense of what is distracting the singer. My guesses are the singer has ADD or Alzheimer's or is guilt ridden or drug addict or love struck.

Musically, I could picture something like the Beatles "Across the Universe".

Thanks for sharing.

James

It's about the process of songwriting and recording. The reason that I thought it might be the same subject as MrEWorm's is his mention of lights and buttons and singing along, which I thought might be the recorder. That wrong interpretation of his song has given me ideas for more lyrics for my song - talking about the recorder itself and possibly a dialog with it.

Yes, your lyrics make sense. I was so focused on finding an animal, vegetable or mineral that I never considered it could be about internal processes.
