I decided to paste all these together so I could choose my favorites, and thought I would save others the same effort. :) No particular order, just the order they were on the board... no intentional omissions, please forgive me if I missed anyone.

Like John said, Jeremy, thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this - and thanks also to KR2, who had the same idea and actually beat you to it! I'll "sticky" this one for now, so's it'll stay at the top of the thread - Ken's cut-and-pasted list is in the "Feedback" thread....

Thanks to both of you, anyway - one extra brownie point each for Mr R2 and Mr Jerm!

:D :D :D

Ok, choruses in one place too... though I'd encourage you to look back at the individual threads... you may catch some feedback/ideas for these choruses. Again, hope I didn't miss anyone.

from straycat:

Monopoly Money (Dylan Barrett)

You and me, this love is monopoly money
Counting our riches we laugh
Dance on the asphalt, feet bare and arms out
Flout weather reports

You and me, this love is monopoly money
But neither of us will laugh
When they'll take our streets, say it wasn't real, now
Be a good sport

Should know better (David Hodge)

Say I should know better
When the sun goes up
And down goes my luck
When paper birds only fly
To get stuck in the sky

Say I should know better
When the signs say go
And the heart stays put
When, with breath on hold,
I keep piling up my hope

Cobbled Streets and Smoky Chimneys (Vic Lewis)

Cobbled streets and smoky chimneys
Walking slowly past the abbey
With a sense that being lonely
Is the best way to spend the morning

Cobbled streets and smoky chimneys
Ambling downhill past your house
With a flicker of a memory
Waving at the busking lad
It grows, the smile I had all morning

Whiskey Breath Blues (Dylan)

Chorus
I've got (the) whiskey breath blues
From drinkin' a cheap brand of booze
It's not my fault
I can't afford a good single malt
And it's given me whiskey breath blues

I've got (the) whiskey breath blues
And feelin' I've got nothin' to lose
I've got no friends
It seems my trouble never ends
Everybody knows me as ‘bad news'

I Should Take My Own Advice (Vic)

I should take my own advice
And tell her this can't go on
But when I start to think of her
Any common sense I had is gone

I should take my own advice
What we're doing isn't right
But rational thinking is overruled
By thoughts of kissing her tonight

A Friend I Can Do Without (Jerboa)

A friend I can do without
Is one that steals my wife
One that sneaks behind my back
And ruins my whole life

A friend I can do without
Is one who can't be trusted
The kind that hits you from behind
And leaves you broke and busted

We Got Pictures, We Got Proof (straycat)

We got pictures, we got proof
the border is open, come right on through
stay where you are, you're bound to lose
one choice is freedom, but you've got to choose

We got pictures, we got proof
your opinion, it matters; it just isn't true
reality will strike, you'll see you've been used
one choice is freedom, but you've got to choose

Romantic Recession (Ken)

Romantic recession, as the markets collapse
won't waste my time working, ‘cause you're all that I have

Romantic recession, there's no jobs around
when our home is taken, in your arms I'll be found

Shirts and skins (James)

Shirts and skins, let me be shirts, oh, please
some girls are watching, let me hide my physique
I know I'll be slippery, when the sweat starts to glow
but my fat it is flapping, in the wind as I go

Shirts and skins, so we'll all know our teams
in permanent marker, let me be number 3
‘cause skins stand for nature, so the earth's on our side
if I fall in the grass, then I'll have a green hide

“Channeling Captain Kirk” (Ernie)
-Warning pseudo names have been given to the aliens and species to protect their

inter-galactic rights

Chorus 1
Channeling Captain Kirk
Our Zerbees are in a quirk
You left Camila in a lurch
Zoranda Zilo just gave birth

Chorus 2
Channeling Captain Kirk
The one who left his yellow shirt
The USS galactic flirt
The Klingons had you nailed, you jerk
=====

“Noqkwivi Burning” (Dylan)

Chorus 1
Noqkwivi burning while the village bled
Ambushed at noon and left for dead
Women and children in a ring of fire
Nothing can quench the white man's desire

Chorus 2
Noqkwivi burning into the night
All nature knows that things aren't right
Mother Earth today we died
Guide our spirits to the other side
=====

"Songwriters' Block" (Vic)

Chorus 1
Come on down to Songwriters' Block
Prophets and poets rock around the clock
Itching with a rhythm or flirting with a rhyme
Come on down and we'll have a good time

Chorus 2
Come on down to Songwriters' Block
Rhythm and rhyme dance ‘round the clock
Pull up a chair for a drink and sympathy
Not much published but it's fine company

Should Know Better(dhodge)

Should know better
Than to fool around
Your so darn clever
You didn't make a sound
Should know better
I wouldn't be so down

Should know better
Not to play downtown
You sent me a letter
Now you never come around
Should know better
I miss us hanging around

Broken Records (Fisher)

Broken records all over the floor
Your half smoked cigarette sits in your favorite ashtray
An empty bottle wears your lipstick and fingerprints
Your headlights back out of the driveway

Broken records all over the floor
Clouds of anger are in my way
As it subsides and better memories come around
Wonder if you'll come back to me later today

The Dissident Yes-man (Jeremy)

The Dissident Yes-man
Discordant guess man
Making his way backwards
Through life's little maze

The Dissident Yes-man
Disorder's best man
A friend of dissent
He'll never repent

- Venice is Drowning (dhodge)

“Venice is drowning” you sang to me,
As the clouds grew dark, filled with despair,
Rain splashed off the bridges and flowed us away
As we struggled, gasping for air

“Venice is drowning” you sang to me,
As we struggled for the shoreline so desperately,
You told me one day, it would all flood away
Now we drift in our harmony

- Maybe Broken Is All I Know (Ernie)

Maybe broken is all I know
Cracked to the core by your wicked curveball
You battered my heart, all for your fun
And look at you now, you're the perfect home run

Maybe broken is all I know
I wonder, alone, waiting for dawn
You sheltered me, in the palm of your hand
And threw me away, who knows where I'll land

- Replay my Life (Dylan)

I would replay my life
From the first time I saw you
In the student hall
I admit I adored you

I would replay my life
From the time it all ended
From the blistering dawn
To the chilly December

Boys from Liverpool (Celt)

And the boys from Liverpool showed the world,
What rock'n'roll is all about,
John, Paul, George and Ringo...
Anyone wanna twist and shout?

And the boys from Liverpool showed the world,
How to play the game and to win in style,
And the man from Glenbuck showed 'em all,
How to win and lose with a quip and a smile

(Obviously, the first chorus is about the Fab Four - the second one is about

Liverpool Football Club and the man from Glenbuck is Bill Shankly - look him up on

Wikipedia, and then follow the link to Wikiquote. You'll find one of his quotes at

the bottom of all my posts....)

The Dissident Yes-Man (Jeremy)

And the dissident yes-man, he said no,
Although you brought me in to vote for you,
I'm not your stooge and I don't agree,
You can't buy me, you can't bribe me, you can't hire me, you can't fire me....and

now you're screwed.

And the dissident yes-man, he said no,
'Cause I still believe in democracy,
And I'm casting my vote on the side of right,
You can't buy me, you can't bribe me, you can't hire me, you can't fire me....and

now you're screwed.

(I'm obviously thinking politics for this one....for the last line I'm thinking

something like this:

One voice starts with "You can't buy me...." and holds that note.
The next voice comes in with "You can't bribe me"....maybe a fourth higher?
Next voice - "You can't hire me..." a fourth higher again? I'll have to work on

these....
Next voice - "You can't fire me..." back to the original key, but an octave

higher....

Then all four voices in unison, "And now you're SCREWED!"......

When Today is Past (Nick)

When today is past we'll walk together
find our way out of the chaos and the pain
we will find the path of least resistance
and wait until the skies are clear again

When today is past we'll ask the question
what could we do where did it all go wrong
breaking down the walls that once divided
find a place where we can all belong

Domino (James)

I'm just a domino, a domino in your eyes
and I will fall for you, fall for you and your lies
And if you rock me, if you knock me I will fall
and I will know your game, know your game if you don't call

I'd been your domino, domino lying on the floor
And if you leave me here, leave me here I'll take no more
And when the game is done, I have won your not around
I will stand up straight, I will wait, stand my ground.

Long Walk Home (John)

No money for a bus or train or cab can't pay the fare
No credit on your mobile phone not that anyone would care
And nowadays the thumbs ignored with faces cold as stone
You got to face the fact that it's a mighty long walk home

You ain't got a wife no more she's gone and took the car
Trouble is she dumped you when you were in Edinburgh
She's taken all your cards and cash and stripped you to the bone
You got to face the fact that it's a mighty long walk home.

Maybe Broken Is All I Know – (Stikman)
(With a nod to Straycat who's My Low Is Sky-High inspired line 3 of chorus 1)

(Chorus 1)

Maybe broken is all I know
And broken hearts mend slow
Even my highs are low
Maybe broken is all I know

(Chorus 2)

Maybe broken is all I know
And broken hearts mend slow
How could I let her go
Maybe broken is all I know

921 Sterling Avenue - (Dhodge)

(Chorus1)

I'm at 921 Sterling Avenue
Standing outside in the rain
921 Sterling Avenue
I just want to see her again

I'm at 921 Sterling Avenue
Smoking my last cigarette
921 Sterling Avenue
Finding it hard to forget

Salty – (Fisheromen)

(Chorus1)

And Salty drinks his nights away
As the Siren sings her tune
Calling him back to the sea
To follow the sailor's moon

(Chorus 2)

And Salty walks the shore alone
Remembering days of old
Before he gave his heart away
To that mistress cruel and cold

Take A Number(James)
--------------------

If you want a piece of me, take a number
You ain't the first one I done wrong
If you're thinking I should pay, take a number
You can have whatever's left when I'm gone

If you're looking to get even, take a number
If revenge is what you want, stand in line
If it makes you feel better, take a number
You'll never hurt this broken heart of mine

It Takes Two to Make a Lie (Dylan)
----------------------------

It takes two to make a lie
It takes two to turn hello into goodbye
When the tables finally turn,
The one thing that you learn
Is it takes two to make a lie

Cause it takes two to make a lie
And you can't go on no matter how you try
You can say you'll just be friends
But you'll find out in the end
That it takes two to make a lie
