Ok, time for me to jump back on this merry-go-round. This weeks tune should, I think be a country number.
This Time
HIM
The first time that I married
Was not for love as much as lust
But the fire burned out quickly
and the marriage was a bust
The second time, I'm sad to say
It seems that I was blind
I'm still not sure what happened there
I must have lost my mind.
Chorus:
But this time, it's a brand new start
This time, I'm following my heart
This time, we go hand in glove
This time it's for love.
HER
The first time that I married
It was a sad affair
A grey day shotgun wedding
With a nervous dismal air
We tried to do the right thing
But the right thing turned out wrong
I can't believe I lived it now
I can't believe it went that long
Chorus:
HIM
The third time that I married
I was lonely and depressed
I thought I'd found my soul mate
But she turned just like the rest
HER
I learned my lesson early
Wed in haste, repent at leisure
So I took my time and tried to find
Someone to bring me pleasure.
And this time it's a brand new start
This time we're following our hearts
This time we go hand in glove
This time it's for love
This time it's for love.

Hey katreich
I can hear the late great Johnny Cash and his June Carter singing this ..Just like " Jackson " I'm going to Jackson gunna loosen my coat
And of course the chorus , " We got married in a fever , hotter than a pepper sprout "...
Now young lady you have to get someone to sing it with you for us ...plenty of good artist in here and I am sure someone will put their hand up ..
Paul ? John ? Vic ? Olav ? Dave ? come on guys this would be brilliant ..I would but I can't
(A) SING
(B) PLAY (
C) ALL THE ABOVE
Very nice writing , you have set the bar high for this year ..which is a good thing
Cheers
Trevor
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
looks great to me, Kathy, only thing I'd change - though it might not fit the rhyme - is....
The third time that I married
I was lonely and depressed
I thought I'd found my soul mate
But she turned just like the rest ......
I'd change the last line to....
But she turned OUT just like the rest ......little added emphasis, shouldn't disturb the metre too much....
To quote Barnabus whatever-his-name-is-this-week,
"Now young lady you have to get someone to sing it with you for us ...plenty of good artist in here and I am sure someone will put their hand up ..
Paul ? John ? Vic ? Olav ? Dave ? come on guys this would be brilliant ..I would but I can't
(A) SING
(B) PLAY (
C) ALL THE ABOVE"
A is out....I can barely manage to translate my own strangulated vocals to my own songs....
B - well maybe....but I'm not a big C&W fan.....
C - you have to be bloody joking!
Kathy, I think this would make a nice collaboration if you could get DH to play and sing on it.....
Really good song though, it's been a while ....don't be a stranger!!!!
:D :D :D
Vic
"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
Vic
A is out....I can barely manage to translate my own strangulated vocals to my own songs....
Even Dylan did a C&W
B - well maybe....but I'm not a big C&W fan.....
You could play it though ...
C - you have to be bloody joking
NO
I only excues no real reasons
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Yeah thanks mate....I can hear the song played (in my head) with a kind of Country swing rhythm....big job to translate that to guitar though, especially since it isn't my song.....

Kathy,
I like this song too, my feeling for it is (without hearing it of course) is that there may be some meter issues when its sung, and that some of the lines might need a tweak.
Nice song,
Paul
When I sat down briefly with a guitar yesterday, just noodleing, this was coming around to be not so country after all. I'll keep you posted.

I played around with this a bit and you can hear my recording at:

It took me quite a while to get the soundclick page up and runnig, since I'm a bit of a technophobe. I think I 've got it figured out now, though.

Hey,
Really enjoyed the MP3. Excellent work!
Neil

Thank you

The song sounds great. My comment is that the rhythm of the line:
"This time we're following our hearts"
It sounds a little forced. Maybe it's come across easier with one less syllable. I'll suggest
"This time following our hearts"
The recording is nice I especially like the guitar work.
