Hi all,

Still struggling with a numb finger but appreciate, as always, all the comments and suggestions. Thanks.

TRAPPED

I'm dying for something to live for
but I can't seem to find my way
I'm listening to everybody talking
but they don't have anything to say
how can they talk and not say a word
there's no meaning, it's all absurd

and I don't know how much more I can give
I've lost the will to live

a wall behind me, walls at my side
I can't see in front of me, and I've no place to hide
I'm trapped in today, and I can't wait for tomorrow
all the joy has left my heart, and all I have is sorrow
all this pain where does it end, is anything real is it all make pretend

and I don't know how much more I can give
I've lost the will to live

there are visions of the blind that haunt my soul
I know deaf men can hear but what they hear can't be told
and there are shadows of doubt and images that lie
questions without answers and still I ask why

No one can fathom forever
because no one's ever been there
and everyone tells me never
because no one seems to care
summer time's over and winter draws near
they're still screaming at me but I still can't hear

and I don't know how much more I can give
I've lost the will to live

sometime's we're trapped and there are no restraints
nothing is clear, no one hears our complaints
and sometimes the dead reveal their tales
and the living can't bare to live their hell

I'm dying for something to live for
but I can't seem to find my way
I'm listening to everybody talking
but they don't have anything to say
how can they talk and not say a word
there's no meaning, it's all absurd

and I don't know how much more I can give
I've lost the will to live

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

I love the chorus, or the italicized part, especially, in this song Neil. I'd almost want to build the song around those parts, because there the writing rings true, those lines are the explanation of the song. I also liked the guitar playing you did, particularly when you sped up the tempo to go thru the bridge and then knocked it back down to unwind again. Not sure why you used, "make pretend" though - would anything else work there? Perhaps, "make believe"? Or knock off the 'make' part as those two words don't seem to fit together to me.

I really like, "no one can fathom forever because no one's ever been there," too. I think the flow of the song would work better if you cut out a lot of extraneous words, such as, "they're 'still' screaming at me but I 'still' can't hear."

Depressing song theme, but there's good marrow in the bones, Neil - and you sing well!
