Hmmm, interesting brief for the week. Took me back to the time I first discovered Guitarnoise. I've been adding a line or two to this all week
Think Lifehouse - ballady but edgy too.
Title: Hope
I think I know me prettty well
I've been around in times of hell
and lent a hand when it was time to
fight
Sometimes I didn't like what I'd see
but that was how it had to be
to get me through some dark and lonely
nights
[Chorus]
Sometimes I feel the pain
the tears, the laughter, the rain
I take my cue and live it
over and over again.
I cannot hide within myself
hide memories on a dusty shelf
I try to run and hide but
find myself again
Happiness, I've been there too
it's not just been since I met you
I've had myself some good times on the
way
And overall I guess I should
be grateful and say life's been good
I still enjoy the thrill of each new
day
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
Would I do it all again
I don't know if I learned at all
Would I change anything
I don't know, I'm still walking tall
[Instrumental - probably two verses]
[Chorus]
What can I say that's not been said
It's all still there inside my head
I live it every day just press
rewind.
Does it need the bridge? It was put in as a very late addition. Maybe the walking tall bit could be improved.

Hi Alan,
yeah nice song, well done. Do you need the Bridge ? if it was mine I would say no. I think that the last line of the chorus is powerful in its own right and you dont need a bridge that makes another point, which although valid, for me dilutes the impact of the chorus point. Anyway just my opinion.
cheers

Alan
The first 2 lines really pulled me in ..
Then I just kept reading it and really enjoying , I actually read this a few times I enjoyed so much ..
The way it is right now is terrific I believe
Cheers
Trev..
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
I'm with Pbee on this one as regards the bridge....it struck me as being superfluous, you've already said it here....
"I take my cue and live it
over and over again."
and reiterate the sentiments here....
"I live it every day just press
rewind."
Taken by themselves, those two lines - because they're so far apart in the song - don't come across as repetitive, the second one's re-inforcing the first statement....that's how it reads to me anyway....
As for the rest of the song, nice tight feel to it, builds well....I think you'll just have to make the instrumental section a lttle longer!
You should drop in here more often Alan......

ah, nice, lifehouse:)
i'd say album "no name face", song "quasimodo" (and "simon" and "trying"). not from the content, but from the atmosphere.
i can really hear lifehouse performing parts of your song in my head;)
love the "rewind" and "take my cue" bits. and hiding "memories on a dusty shelf"- amazing image:)
i'd agree on leaving the bridge out.
i am very interested in hearing this (now i can ask someone the music question)- any intentions of recording?
enjoyed it, thanks.
cheers,

Well, I bought a new pc this week. It's got a Gig of memory, the mixing desk and hi-fi are connected and I've installed all my recording software and some 25,000 sound samples. Recording is definitely on the agenda.
Best,
A :-)

Hi Alan
I always enjoy reading your stuff - it's few and far between but always excellent. This is no exception. I think I prefer the song without the bridge for all the reasons mentioned above.
Good, strong stuff

Hi old-timer!
Now that I've met you, I can see and hear you playing this. And that's a great thing! I'll echo Blue Night Angel's question about the music...
Stop in more often, good sir! Always a pleasure to read your material.
Peace
