Expect Clearing Skies 02/07/11
from Wilhelmina
Expect clearing skies overnight,
by daylight the storm will have passed.
Expect wrinkled sheets in the morning.
The cold front between us can't last.
Expect clearing skies overnight,
Expect my cheek on your chest.
But there'll be turbulent winds
for a few hours yet,
till a new system moves in from the west.
(Bridge?)
You and I,
our love has been battered
by many a storm.
Our quarrels have always made me cry.
But I know,
if we act from our hearts
and not from our hurts,
the rough-weather times will pass by.
Expect clearing skies overnight.
Look for a warming trend.
There may be showers
in the mountains tonight
but expect record highs in the end.
It reads well but I suspect that if I sang "Expect" so many times in a row that my listeners could experience showers.
Hi Wilhelmina,
Good start :D I like the metaphor of weather for the relationship....I wonder if there is something like an omen like
"Red sky at night, sailors' delight. Red sky at morning, sailor take warning".....or "expect the unexpected" as the singer is describing a cyclical pattern in their relationship......It reminds me a bit of Sting's song "All Four Seasons"

Thanks for sharing.

I am wondering about this because in love it is our heart in which the hurts lie.
Maybe along the lines of:
But I know,
if we act from our hearts
and nourish our hurts,
the rough-weather times will pass by.
Have you posted any audio yet. I be interested in hearing you. Of course not a requirement by any means.

Hi Ernie
I can usually bend words to my will but I'm new to songwriting as well as guitar and music theory. So, at the moment, I haven't a clue as to how a person would post audio. First she'd need a tune in her head, and then to get it onto paper. That sounds daunting! But I'm working on it. Thanks for your comment. Wilhelmina
