SSG10-Week43 Second Hand

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11862146

Stop dressing your smile in apologies
You're a classic beauty not some wannabe
Don't let the second hand keep ticking away

It's not the stage of life to be alone
It's not the kind of night to be at home
Don't let the second hand keep ticking away

Chorus
Second hand books have plenty to say
Experience comes with a touch of grey
Second hand lovers can make love feel fine

Stop dressing your soul in second hand clothes
Thrift store thinkers have enough of those
Don't let the second hand keep ticking away

I've got a tankful of funk parked in the loading zone
You've got a trunkful of spunk; I can taste your cologne
Don't let the second hand keep ticking away

chorus

Instrumental

chorus

Nice rhythms on the recording. I like the two meanings of "second hand." However, I'm not sure what you mean by "second hand lovers."

Widowers or divorcees; people who have already "lived a life" with a significant other.......but since is not a common use for the phrase, I can see where it might not be too clear.

Thanks for the listen and post :D

James,

I had a little trouble understanding how you intended the two uses of
"second hand". On a second listen it all came clear.

The opening line is a real grabber:
Stop dressing your smile in apologies

As Renee said "Nice rhythms"

That works---- :note2: Second time listens can make songs real clear, clear, clear :note2:

Thanks for the listen(s) and post, John :D

I like it. I think you could transpose up 2-4 half steps to put it in a better key for your range.

Kep up the good work.

We had a huge two day folk festival yesterday and today, 8 stages and artists from all over America. I've been so involved with this and other projects that I haven't taken time to write at all. On Wednesday, we head to Yosemite for a few days. Hope to get time to write while I'm there.
