Hmmm... I was thinking kind of folksy.
Amber Days of Autumn
In the amber days of autumn,
as the leaves are turning brittle,
I go walking through the town we shared,
and I'm sad - but just a little,
I recall how much you loved me
during that far away September,
and I know it's gone forever now,
except when I remember...
and I do....
I remember how your golden hair
would catch the sun and hold it there
just long enough for me to stare
and wonder if I even dare
to reach out for the beauty bared
to all the world without a care
as if completely unaware
you had my heart ensnared
The air is turning cooler
in the amber days of fall
and I know I shouldn't visit
and I know I shouldn't call
'cause you're happy with another
and that's as it ought to be
but sometimes I can't help wonderin'
if it could've been with me
yes I do....
I remember how your dark brown eyes
would light up just like fireflies
when in the field we'd go and lie
and watch the stars glimmer high
embedded in a cobolt sky
and silently I'd wonder why
the fates had favored such as I
you asked me why I sighed
During the amber days of autumn
the daylight passes quickly
I drink melancholy reverie
like some men swallow whiskey
and I'm happy you've moved on
I know our love couldn't last
but I keep one foot in the present
and the other in the past
yes I do....
I remember how your golden hair
can catch the sun and hold it there
just long enough for me to stare
and wonder if I even dare
to reach out for the beauty bared
to all world without a care
as if completely unaware
you keep my heart ensnared
Sweet. Flows quite well and thelong rhyming bits are admirable. I've always had a thing for that sorta... thing.
And very folksy

Hi'a Scratchmonkey,
I love the story, it flows really well, I reckon it would have to be folk as it is rather lengthy, and i must agree with MO, your rhyming is really good, especially the brittle and little, very clever.see, i am a rhymimg sucker as well.
go well
