I'm a bit rusty but here goes...groove is sort of a metal anthem

HOME OF THE BRAVE

Verse 1:

Pissing my blood
Into another man's cup
What I get back
Is not enough
I think its time
For us to stand up

Chorus:
Home of the Brave
Can you still say it when you're all afraid
Home of the Brave
Now its time to have your say
Home of the Brave
Don't wait till you're in your grave

Verse 2:
Take yourself too seriously
I don't think you impress me
Surround yourself with those who say yes
Otherwise they don't pass your test

Chorus 2:
Home of the Brave
Bubble wrap the world and make it look the same
Home of the Brave
Burn that bridge and you'll be saved
Home of the Brave
Illusion of comfort is the modern cage

(Solo)

Verse 3:
So I drink my coffee
Take it black
Open your eyes
Its time to face facts
You don't need more security
What you need is a mind that's free

Coda:
Home of the Brave
Bubble wrap the world and make it look the same
Home of the Brave
Burn that bridge and you'll be saved
Home of the Brave
Illusion of comfort is the modern cage

Don't wait till you're in your grave
Bubble wrap the world and make it look the same
Burn that bridge and you'll be saved
Illusion of comfort is the modern cage

Hi CCourtney,

Strong opening...sets up for a good revolution....similar to Bernard's angst in the Brave New World dystopia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_New_World . :D

Suggestion: Consider reworking verse 3 to display the singer's perception of a "better" way to live....Unless it is meant to be ironic, because this line makes the singer seem hypocritical and joining right in with the comforts of society:
Verse 3:
So I drink my coffee (at Starbucks?)
Take it black

Other than that, you've got a strong call for change to the listener and the metal genre could work well.

James

PS When I read the title, I thought it was going to be about native American Indians claiming north American soil in a modern age.

Hi Chris,
Some powerful stuff here. Actually I like verse three, for me the drinking coffee black is an allusion to a more back to basics approach to life beyond the fancy “Latte Art” so to speak. I really like “Illusion of comfort is the modern cage” that's a great line.

Cheers
Paul
