This one has some swagger to it when it plays in my head.... i took some very small liberties with the chorus Bluenightangel wrote just for flow reasons.

"A Liar's Sunset" - Nick's title and Bluenightangel's chorus

Spider webs and puppet strings
And all those sinister things
Hiding from the light of day
I'll give a twitch and show some life
But then out comes the knife
To swipe that stupid smile from your face...

I'm a lover
I'm a faker
I'm a loser
I'm a taker
And I'll play you like a violin tune
By the light of a laughing moon

Now this is a liar's sunset
All the colors weirdly split
By the cords stirring the marrionette...

Angel hair and satin sheets
Your sweet heart skipping beats
As I come to lay you down
I'll show you all my wicked ways
If you don't mind the pain
Just trust me love and don't make a sound

I'm a lover
I'm a faker
I'm a loser
I'm a taker
And I'll play you like a violin tune
By the light of a laughing moon

Now this is a liar's sunset
All the colors weirdly split
By the cords stirring the marrionette...

And they'll be nothing in the morning
But wooden arms and tangled strings
And the awful truth of sinister things
I'm sorry pretty baby..
I'm only as real as you made me
But perhaps, by chance, we'll meet again soon
By the light of the laughing moon

Wow,

That's really good. Quite bleak and disturbing too. That swagger you mentioned will suit it almost too well!

Another one where the eventual song has turn out much different than it might have done - I guess that's the cool thing about all this writing-in-stages stuff.

Nice one!

I'd like to second the "Wow" and make it a WOW! :D
really, marv, you got a stunning song there. I don't mind you altering the chorus a bit. I'm just like.....WOW........... so many beautiful lines in there... the beginning lines are already a hooker......
Spider webs and puppet strings
And all those sinister things
But then out comes the knife
To swipe that stupid smile from your face...
And I'll play you like a violin tune
By the light of a laughing moon -probably my favourite... very clever
I'm only as real as you made me

the title had a lot of potential, but you painted , say, a masterpiece with the colours given.(uh, cheesy...... but I'm serious)

be proud of yourself.

Hey Marv,

I think youve done an outstanding job here. Bluenights chorus was always a mystery to me, I liked it, but it was a mystery. What youve done here is put meaning to it, well done :D . Theres only one tiny thing that bothers me, and Im just being picky, but if you went the whole hog with this song it might be worth considering. These lines
I'm a lover
I'm a faker
I'm a loser
I'm a taker
are very similar to Steve Millers "The Joker"
I'm a picker
I'm a grinner
I'm a lover
And I'm a sinner
Apart from that excellent job.

Marilyn Manson's "Angel With The Scabbed Wings" contains the lines:

"He is the maker
He is the taker
He is the saviour
He is the raper"

While the lines may appears similar to Steve Miller's I doubt you could ever confuse one for the other. Its a matter of putting it into context musically etc. i promise that if I get around to recording this it wont have any sort of link to either of these two songs.
