Excellent, Kathy! Nice arrangement and a lot of emotion. Very powerful stuff and I think you've written another song that's going to make me cry if I play it.
Speaking of which, you want to do this in October?
Also, and don't rerecord what you've done  , had a thought about this couplet:
Some bring him sorrow, some bring him joy
Some make him think back to when he was a boy
The second line seems a little passive, so I wonder about using the "bring" verb to make it more active and to also stress that it (the emotions of remembering) is something that just happens to him, instead of him making it happen:
Some bring him sorrow, some bring him joy
Some bring him back to days when he was still a boy
Very nicely done.
Peace
As always, just beautiful. :)
I particularly liked the small change that Vic suggested. For me, it was a tiny and subtle difference but a very important one.
Great job. I didn't shed a tear this time, but it was a very close run thing.... My father studied for the priesthood late in life and spent his latter years as a parish priest, so it brought back a lot of memories of him.
Chris
WOW again!
At the risk of being pedantic and nitpicky, can I just point out one TINY little thing? Everywhere I've looked and found "Father Mackenzie" written down, it's been spelled "McKenzie."
Although if you call it "Jack MacKenzie" I suppose there's less chance of being sued by Macca.....and he needs the money after his divorce. Watch your back, Kathy!

Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.
Hey Kathy, I spotted something yesterday you might find interesting.....whilst escorting CitiZenNoir and Isabelle around Liverpool, one of the places we visited was a little cafe which is built on the site of the original Cavern Club stage. Outside said cafe is this sculpture....
Quality's not too great, but never mind - if you look between Lennon's feet, you'll notice there's a small brass plaque. Here's a close-up of said plaque....
Interesting, yes? I never knew there was a REAL Father McKenzie....I always thought it was a made-up name!

And my Soundclick Page to listen to my song submissions: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=903876
Now I'm thinking I have to change the name of the song. I'll never be able to play this again without thinking "TOM".

James, you should check out some of Kathy's other songs from the SSG - they're always worth a listen or two. Or several. Or downloading so's you can listen at your leisure.
I've had a lot of pleasure (and a lot of "I wish I'd written that" moments, too!) listening to her work over the last few years. Thanks for sharing all your SSG songs, Kath! Oh - and perhaps Father Tom and Father Jack were brothers? Or maybe cousins?
