Hi all,

Stingy Brim

Following up on the suggestions that Stingy Brim is cool jazzy dude with a small brimmed hat:

Ah, Stingy Brim, Stingy Brim
He's cool and tight, taut and trim
Fast and mean and slick and slim
Don't you wish that you were him
…

and

They Said It Wouldn't Last (And They Were Right)
No-one On My Side
Get Out Of My Life
So Who Gets The Dogs?

I supect that these are all lines from the same song. But I'll take "So Who gets The Dogs"

I feel that I'm something of an expert on this topic, as the woman next door has cast us in the role of 'Supportive Neighbours' and 'Sympathetic Listeners' since her husband left about a year ago. So I've listened patiently while she sang the song for the 500th time (she got the dog and the four cats, in case you're interested...) and fought back the impluse to sing my own song back - entitled "Frankly, I'd Have Strangled You With My Bare Hands Years Ago..."

From memory (which I can't seem to shake off no matter how hard I try) her chorus goes like this:

It's not fair, it's not fair – I don't know why he ran away…..
It's not fair, it's not fair – I don't care what you have to say…..
But I'm going to make him pay… and pay… and pay… and pay…
and pay….. and pay …and pay…
and pay…. and pay….
and pay….

Random sample of lines from "Frankly, I'd Have Strangled You...."

You can keep every single gift that your mother ever gave us
And the pamphlets from the 'Do Goods' who came around to save us
You can keep your precious house with its massive pile of debts
And I'll just take the Porsche and all the booze and cigarettes

I'll also have the handcuffs and the leather trampolines
But I'll leave you all the boxes full of women's magazines
The razors are all yours – you're the one who needs to shave
I'd have dug a deeper hole, but you'll only need a shallow grave…

etc.

Apparently these things can get a little bitter.... :?

Cheers,

Chris

"Stingy Brim" is a nice tight chorus, I can visualise the guy in my head.....

But I'd love to see the rest of "Frankly, I'd have strangled you"......................now that's pretty funny! And it'd fit a 12-bar rhythm without too much jiggling about.

:D :D :D

Very nice take on Stingy Brim, Chris! (I was thinking about writing on this one myself and now I'm going to have to really re-think that! )

You're setting the bar pretty high.

Looking forward to your other choruses.

Peace

Well done. Both choruses seem to strongly suggest the music - looking forward to hearing the pay & pay & pay bit
Cheers
