Ooooops - I posted this in the wrong place earlier. Deleted that post.....

Been a while since I've written anything at all - it's not been a good year. As understatements go, that's about on a par with "The Titanic did not overshoot America." But....somewhere inside me......there's still a songwriter trying to make his voice heard amongst all the other voices. Wish they'd shut up for a while!

This is a little (understatement again...I'm getting good at this!) dark, a little bleak - but honestly, I never felt this low, even in my darkest hours. That would be the two/three months when my doctor put me on anti-depressants (did'nt work) and sleeping pills (didn't work either!) as well as my usual painkillers which seem to be getting stronger every three months.

But hey, where there's life there's hope....and I still have a guitar, and now I'm off the anti-depressants and sleepers, I can actually string a coherent sentence together....well, about 7-8 times out of 10. And well punctuated, too, and with the correct spelling....some things you never forget!

Oh, and it's a painfully slow 12-bar blues - well what else would you use to write about the end of the world?

End Of The World.

Well the end of the world can't come soon enough for me,
Yeah the end of the world can't come soon enough for me,
It'll take me out of my constant misery.

I've thought about suicide but I was Catholic raised,
Yes I've thought about suicide but I was Catholic raised,
But I'll surely welcome, the end of days.

The one person I truly loved has gone,
My partner, my soul mate, my confidant,
I'll never see her again for the rest of my life,
So please make it short, I want to be with my wife....

Well the end of the world is so long overdue,
Yes the end of the world is so long overdue,
Oh Marilyn, save me that place right next to you.

:D :D :D (Still smiling whatever crap the world throws at me.....)

I was wondering when someone would post a bluesy emotional end if the world song. Please keep writing.

We are what we are

Reads well, Vic.

A minor suggestion.

I'll never see her again for the rest of my life,

change to

I won't see her again this side of life,

or

I won't see her again 'til the after-life,

...........because you mention having her save you a place next to her.

Thanks for sharing your heart and song.

Prayers for peace and healing in the days ahead

James

Hey Vic,

I really like the song, -- and I'm partial to the "this side of life" suggestion.

Also, I''m having a very similar year. I've had two doctors that wanted to put me on depression meds. I didn't take them. I've been thinking maybe I should, but reading your post makes me glad I made the choice I did.
Anyways, keep writing whenever you can, -- always like reading your stuff.

Hey Vic, your tag prompted a crazy thought, maybe as a twist in a outro you could include something like

"Still smiling whatever crap the end of the world throws at me"

Hi Vic

Nice to know that the end of the world will bring you out!

Good stuff here, and I think James' suggestion is a good and valid one.

Noticed that this stanza / verse :
The one person I truly loved has gone,
My partner, my soul mate, my confidant,
I'll never see her again for the rest of my life,
So please make it short, I want to be with my wife....

might not easily fit into the typical twelve bar blue mold so was wondering if it might fit into the "typical-IV-I-V-I-IV-I-V of V-V" bridge for twelve bar blues model. If you were in the key of E, it'd be like this:

The (A) one person I truly (E) loved has gone,
My (B7) partner, my soul mate, my (E) confi (E7) dant,
I'll (A) never see her again for the (E) rest of my life,
So (F#7) please make it short, I want to (B7) be with my wife....

Hope you get a chance to record this. And I'm also hoping we all are fortunate enough to have you drop by more often in the upcoming SSG "new year."

Peace

Thanks all for comments.

JT - "I won't see her again this side of life" is a good line, I'll keep that if you don'r mind!

David....I was thinking more along the lines of....(in the key of A)

The one (D)person I truly loved has gone,
My (A) partner, my soul mate, my confidant,
I'll never (D)see her again for the rest of my life,
So please (E)make it short, I want to (E7) be with my wife....

Going to try the suggestions a few people tried earlier this week to get Audacity up and running again....

:-) :-) :-)
