verse:

Prophets and doomsayers
Tell us we should be scared.
Off-the-grid survivalists,
Environmental activists
All try to warn us
Here comes the end.

chorus:

When's the big finale?
We can't agree.
It all depends.
Here comes the end.

verse:

Economic inequality.
Political anarchy.
Do you think this could be
The start of World War III?
There's no place to hide
When here comes the end.

chorus

verse:

Terrorists and affiliates
Waiting in our midst
Maybe in cahoots
With a nut with a nuke.
We try not to offend,
But here comes the end.

chorus

verse:

The planets aligned
Mayans predicted the end of time.
Apocolypse and armageddon
Believers taken into Heaven.
Heeding the signs that
Here comes the end.

chorus

second chorus/outro (I don't know what to call this):

I can't sleep at night
Thinking someone is right.
Here comes the end.
We just don't know when.

Very catchy, Renee. Enjoyed it a lot.

The music (in terms of the chords and rhythm) totally compliments the vocal melody.
The second verse is a little tricky in that fitting "economic" into the rhythm takes a bit of work. It sounds (after a few listens) that trying to land the syllable "nom" on the first beat might be the best approach.

Calling the second chorus an "outro" or a "coda" is perfectly fine. So is calling it a second chorus, for that matter.

Looking forward to more.

Peace

Renee,
Very nice melody and lovely singing. Interesting subject matter and direction, a lot of potential there.

Hi Renee,
Very nice melody and lovely singing.
+1

I like this one a lot

The music reminds me a bit of a recent hit song
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGY
and that's not a bad thing  .....Your melodies are quite different and that's not a bad thing either :D

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, everyone, for the listen and comments. In spite of the dark subject matter, this was fun to write. Interesting to think about how many ways the world could end and all of the times that the predictions have been wrong.

Once I had the first version of the lyrics written, the music flowed easily. Some songs die an early death never to be finished while others are written quickly with a satisfactory result.
