Quite a fun one, I don't think it's very bluesy though, hard to tell. I tried regardless ;)

Chords added:

G
I've been wondering
-------------D7
Where you go at night
-------------A7
You're out after dark
-----Em7
And back before first light

G
I've been listening to
-----D7
The wind again
-------------A7
It tells me of the truth
---Em7
It echoes out another name

--------G------------------------D7
Cause something is going on
--------A7------------------ E7
When you are not around
---------G--------------------------D7
When I wake up and you're gone
---------------A7---------------------E7
It makes me wonder, it takes me down

----------------G-------------------------D
And when the blues come creeping in
-------C----------------Am
They seep into my skin
--------------G----------------------D
Cause when you go creeping out
------C-----------------------G
The blues come creeping in

I've been listening to
The rain again
Just to hear your shame
Oh honey who's to blame

I can see the car lights
Dissapear
They're out of here
With no trace of despair

Cause something is going on
When you are not around
When I wake up and you're gone
It makes me wonder, it takes me down

And when the blues come creeping in
They seep into my skin
Cause when you go creeping out
The blues come creeping in

Tell me who is this lover babe?
A stranger in the night
Tell me who will I share my bed with
If you're not in my life

Tell me what will it take
Will you be my wife?
Just up and leave that man
He's not worth the strife

Cause something is going on
When you are not around
When I wake up and you're gone
It makes me wonder, it takes me down

And when the blues come creeping in
They seep into my skin
Cause when you go creeping out
The blues come creeping in

Hi Jay,

Good Start :D

I really like your last line of the chorus:
Cause when you go creeping out
The blues come creeping in

Looks like a non-traditional form for the blues, so you'll have to play it out for us to get a feel for the music.

I love the chorus too - one of the coolest lines I've read in some time!

Nice. Can you put some chords with it to see how the structure works?

Jay,

Nice Job!

I too would like to hear what you have in mind musically.
To me it has a Robert Cray feel to it.

Thanks for the great comments all! :D

Not really sure if it fits the usual blues formula. I put in suggested chords, feel free to change them.

I can't really get a handle on your chords Jay. I'm playing them but not hearing what I expected the song to sound like.

For the chorus I would be thinking something like
G D
C G
Am Em
D G

To my ear that seems to work with the words, though I'm sure the many theoreticians around these parts can explain why something else works better.

I couldn't grasp the verses either, but I'll hold off suggesting anything because it would probably take a different musical direction to what you have in mind. I think my problem is that I always hear too much country into the lyrics I read. Plus, arrangements are subjective, and there's usually not a right or wrong answer.

Hmm yours may be working a bit better actually, still fits what I had in mind. I wasn't completely sure of the verses myself. (This is the problem with doing lyrics first :P)
