OK, I'm cheating a little with this one cause I wrote it about 6 months ago. But it fits the assignment too perfectly that I couldn't write another one. We had a power outage one night that lasted a while. The words "Black Out" got stuck in my head and I started thinking about all the things that go bump in the night. This song was written by candle light and I had a demo recorded within an hour of the power coming back on. The recording here is from a band practice since we haven't recorded a full version of it yet. It's quite popular in our live set and the crowds always sing along with it.
Chorus
Black Out!
Black Out!
Black Out!
What comes alive when the lights go out?
Verse 1
Safely tucked in your bed
Sweet dreams dancing in your head
The night light casts its comfort glow
But what if the power stops to flow
Chorus
Black Out!
Black Out!
Black Out!
What comes alive when the lights go out?
Verse
The candle flickers and then goes out
You might live, but I really doubt
Things going bump in the dead of night
You won't make it til the morning light
Chorus
Black Out!
Black Out!
Black Out!
What comes alive when the lights go out?
Bridge
Monsters, ghosts, goblins, ghouls
Werewolves, vampires, crazy fools
Witches, demons, in the night
They're all waiting for you tonight
Verse 3
You feel its breath on your skin
Waiting for the attack to begin
Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
As the creature starts to attack and bite
Chorus
Black Out!
Black Out!
Black Out!
What comes alive when the lights go out?
Black Out!
Black Out!
Black Out!
What comes alive when the lights go out?
Black Out!
Horror Punk! I love it! I think it's great.

+1 well done :D
Horror Punk from Nashville, yet! Too cool.
Thanks for making my day! This is great. Have to say, though, if I were playing this live it would be soooooo tempting to change the final shout of "Black out!" to "Wipe Out" and then go into a heavy version of that old surf tune!
Peace

I just may have to steal your idea. We have another song named "Keep Out" and we often play it before or after Black Out. We've always said we wanted to write another "out" song to have a trilogy.
