24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
There's just somethin' I have to do
Then I'm comin' straight home to you
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
There's just somethin' I have to say
It wasn't s'pose to turn out this way
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
Out on Highway 61
Another deal's gone down and I'm on the run
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride
There's just somethin' I have to do
Then I'm comin' straight home to you
24 hours and 2000 miles to ride

Sweet, John!
Great job - moody and slightly mysterious. I like it a lot. Not sure I'd change a thing.
Peace
Hey John,
One Down 51 to go.
That's the spirit
Sounding good :D Nice vocal delivery and soloing. The openess/vagueness of the goings on works. It reminds me of then Allman Brothers Band's "Midnight Rider" http://www.lyricsfreak.com/a/allman+brothers+band/midnight+rider_20006504.html
I agree with Dave that the lyrics work well. The only challenge/suggestion would be to see if you could come up with a strong 2 measure musical hook. That's what seems to help songs get stuck in people's minds when the lyrics are a bit more open-ended. Like the Eric Clapton version song mentioned for this week's assignment or the Allman Brothers Band's "Midnight Rider".....Queen's "We will rock you"....AC/DC's "Back in Black"..... etc....
Like Dave said, I wouldn't change anything on what you've got already, but it seems there's a window of opportunity here for icing the cake
Thanks for sharing.
James
Nice song and mp3.

I'm glad the mysterious worked. I was slightly worried about that but
every time I tried to explain the back story it came out either contrived
or I started stealing too much from Robert Johnson.

Good challenge/suggestion. I'll have to think on that and see if I can come up with something.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, John - not like nobody's ever pinched a riff or two from RJ before! Personally, I like the ambiguity - I like the fact that I don't know why the singer's 2000 miles from home, I don't know what the little thing he has to do is - I like the fact I can use my imagination and kind of fill my own story in.
MP3's pretty good too - voice and guitar work well together. Now whatcha goin' do next week when it ain't the blues, boy?
Good song, John!
:D :D :D
