This is a ditty I put down on paper in five minutes for fun.
The Draw
I was dealt a hand to play in life
by a dealer I never met
And I was told these are not all the cards
the rest are yours to get
The numbers didn't add up to much
the pictures didn't look alike
Folding wasn't an option I was told
it was just too unsportsmanlike
So I threw in with all the others
and waited for the draw
hoping the cards would be better
than the ones that I first saw
I would have liked another King
or perhaps an ace or two
But all I drew were jokers
and I thought surely I was through
Looking around at the others
In a casual sweeping glance
I bet all I had and a little bit more
realizing this was my only chance
And one by one the cards fell down
my bet was more than enough
I lived to play another game
by the grace of a dumb ass bluff!
Nice job!!!
No suggestions, I like it just the way it is. 5 minutes well spent!!!!
Nice Lyric :D I really loved :"And one by one the cards fell down
my bet was more than enough
I lived to play another game
by the grace of a dumb donkey bluff!" ( I know that donkey is really ASS   --THE DOG
hi
I have to agree with PORR , nice job ..
I like the way you have put the cards theme into actual life the opening line really does set the mood of the whole song , then followed up with
BY A DEALER I NEVER MET ..
Then it just opens up wonderfully ...
Well done
would love to hear it
Keep up this brilliant writting
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Thanks for the comments. Really appreciate them. I'm pretty much a rank beginner, both on guitar and writing.
I've just about got the music worked out and will post a link shortly.
Here's a first take . Comments welcome. Thanks all!

Welcome to SSG
If this is what you come up with in 5 minutes
and consider yourself a rank amateur then I
can't wait to see what happens when you get
some experience and work at it.
Good Listen
