Is it just me or are these assignments getting harder and harder? here goes:

The War Inside

V1
Angels and demons
tug at the soul
expanding a rift
into a black hole
that can suck you in
before you see the cost
until you realize
you're hopelessly lost

CHORUS
Unfortunate victories
majestic defeats
the body presses forward
the spirit retreats
it's the intangeable struggle
within hearts and minds
ever shaping the outcome
of the war inside

V2
by night we wrestle
with dreams and myths
while by day we worry
with current events
but nation after nation
can rise and fall
still the battle remains
raging in us all

CHORUS
Unfortunate victories
majestic defeats
the body presses forward
the spirit retreats
it's the intangeable struggle
within hearts and minds
ever shaping the outcome
of the war inside

BRIDGE
It's how the richest of the rich
can know nothing but pain
while the poorest of the poor
can laugh in the rain
it's the thread that when pulled
can unravel the brain
and why when everything's gone
some things still remain
it's the intangeable struggle
within hearts and minds
ever shaping the outcome
of the war inside

CHORUS
Unfortunate victories
majestic defeats
the body presses forward
the spirit retreats
it's the intangeable struggle
within hearts and minds
ever shaping the outcome
of the war inside

Hi Portia,
I really like the theme of this song, where the Angels and Demons depict the struggle within ourselves and I think you express it very well :D .
it's the intangeable struggle
within hearts and minds
ever shaping the outcome
of the war inside
. Great song.

Wow. I thought this song was really deep and really genious! I totally related to this song! I know exactly what you mean by our war inside. I was trying to write a song about it long time ago, but my hats off to you. by night we wrestle
with dreams and myths This I know well, dealing with insomnia. I wanted to quote something from your bridge, but I can't even pick my favorite line. The whole bridge had great imagery and use of words. "it's the thread that when pulled can unravel the brain" "poorest of the poor laugh in the rain" Wow. I wouldn't change a thing. This is just my type of music. What kind of tune is it put to? I would love to hear it. Keep it up!

I like it when the lines of a song are short and to the point (something I find hard to do). If you can find the right words it seems the message is clearer. I think that you did that. Great song. G. :)

Well, I've had no luck with coming up with titles for this week, but I did make a rough recording (very rough) of this song - it's at http://portia.dmusic.com under guitarnoise SSG songs and it's called "The War Inside"
Let me know what you think.
