It's a basic 12 bar blues with an intro to set it up.
********************************
INTRO
when you wake up to find that your house was robbed
and show up to work and find you lost your job
when your wife up & leaves you for the girl next store
don't kid yourself into thinkin' there can't be more
when the Lord's guiding light is just an oncoming train
and your best path to follow is from the pot to the flame
when the cops grab you for a job your twin brother pulled
don't kid yourself into thinkin' that your quota was filled
bad can get worse, there's always lower than low
what's the worse kind of blues? indigo
SONG
I got it real bad, I've got the indigo blues
I got it real bad, I've got the indigo blues
ain't nothing you can do, when you're this shade of blue
you know most blues are OK cause they'll come & go
you know most blues are OK cause they'll come & go
but you're afflicted for life when they're indigo
now there's all kinds of blues, that come in all kinds of shades
there's all kinds of blues, that come in all kinds of shades
but the indigo blues grab hold from the cradle to the grave
I got it real bad, I've got the indigo blues
I got it real bad, I've got the indigo blues
ain't nothing you can do, when you're this shade of blue
This was brilliant. So many gem lines. The entire concept of "indigo blues" is great.
The only thing I didn't get was the line
"when you're afflicted for life when they're indigo"
I'd have it:
"but you're afflicted for life when they're indigo."
Maybe it's just a typo ... or maybe I'm missing some kind of reference/ wordplay.
Hi PORR,
well Im a sucker for some blues, this is good I enjoyed it.
I got out the guitar and played along. I like your spin on bluer than blue, nice idea.
Keep up the good work
Cheers

Mike, you've got to record this! I really want to know how you hear the opening. I've kind of got it in my head as a kind of Muddy Waters' Mannish Boy vamp.
And I want permission to play it at open mics!
Love it and I'm glad to see you making regular appearances here again.
Peace
Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated.
David, you don't need my permission to play anything I write. It's an honor when anyone such as pbee or yourself feels moved enough to play it. But trust me, you don't want me on the mic. If I started singing, ASPCA would be at my door looking for the wounded animal. If you ever do play it & it gets recorded, I'd love to hear it.
Until next time, keep the faith.
