V1
Hey babe barkin up the wrong tree
If you're barkin at me
Hey babe, barkin at the wrong dog
If you think I've done you wrong
Cos you know I won't ever be led astray
And you know I can never stay away
V2
Hey babe diggin in the wrong place
If you think I'm in disgrace
Hey babe it wasn't me that wandered
Wasn't me that walked
Cos you know I won't ever be led astray
And you know I can never stay away
Bridge
You can put me in the doghouse
You can put out the door
You can say that you don't want me
And don't come back no more
V3
But hey babe I'm your little lapdog
I'm your little friend
You gotta learn to trust me
I'm loyal to the end
Cos you know I won't ever be led astray
And you know I can never stay away
V4
So hey babe is that tail waggin friendly
Is it waggin just for me
You wear my favorite perfume
Its like heaven scent to me
You must know I won't ever be led astray
You must know I can never stay away
I can hear this in a Rock-a Billy beat, I'm tapping my feet already. Really like this one, it made me smile right off!
Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.
Hey PBee
Looking forward to hearing this one. I agree with Kathy in that it's already got many built-in smile factors. Very cool.
Only question is in the first line:
Hey babe barkin up the wrong tree
If you're barkin at me
Hey babe, barkin at the wrong dog
If you think I've done you wrong
Now I may be reading this wrong (distinctly possible given the amount of sleep I've (not) had), but I keep thinking that one dog (her or "you")) is barking at another dog (you meaning "me") but the second dog ("me") is up a tree. Is that possible? It's a great image and I'm not sure you'd even want to change it, but that's the impression I got.
Looking forward to hearing this.
Peace
Pbee,
What can I say but I'm in agreement with
the above comments.
In a way it reminds me of The Everly Brothers
Bird Dog.
Good Job
John
Hello pbee, I'm Kelly (brand new)
What a great job -
This sounds like a timeless song to me - I can imagine myself dancing (partying) to this tune 20 years ago OR just last night. I'd love to hear it!

Kelly,
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely, but rather to skid in sideways, guitar in one hand, a beer in the other, body thoroughly used up and shouting "WOO HOO what a ride !! "
Hey, this songs nifty. The only real problem I noticed is what hodge already pointed out, and it's that you refer to both yourself AND the women as a dog, which can get a little confusing.
Oh, and if you want to keep the ryme pattarn in the second verse, I'd recommend saying something about losing face in the fourth line.
Keep it up :D
"Like the coldest winter chill. Heaven beside you. Hell within." -Jerry Cantrell
Thanks for the feedback.

It sure would be. Actually I used to have a Siamese cat that behaved just like a little dog, I wonder if that counts.
The line in question is only there in the context of a slang expression and not to be taken literally.
As for a recording, well have to see if time allows
cheers
pbee ( i was sure I posted this reply yesterday ?? )
Ive posted an mp3 here:

if you interested. It was a bit of a rushed job so you will have to excuse the couple of obvious mistakes in there.
cheers

Hi
I think the only thing I can say is , what just happened while listening to this .
My wife walked in the room and asked who's latest song is that
( thinking it was Jack Johnson or James Blunt )
I'm currently listening to them ALOT lately ...
So thats all I can offer it is pretty damn good and my wife loves it
Great writting and playing
Hilch
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Thanks Hilch,
Jack Johnson, now thats something. You tell your wife I think that she is a wonderful human being :D
Jack Johnson is up there with Neil Young as one my idols.
I havent heard any James Blunt, so ill have to go down to the CD store and have a listen. Thanks for the tip.
cheers
Paul
Well done, I like the tune very much. The music goes along real good with your words. I had a very hard time with this one, and still have not been able to finish mine. Yours stayed very true to the suggestion.
Life is not what you did. It's what you are doing.
