I havent posted in a long time so here is the song.
Its about this guy who does not want to lead a normal life(jobs, wife, kids etc.) because he gets scared when things feel good.

-----------------------------------
I walk along these thin lines
Watching pieces fall apart
All my troubles that I find
I turn and go back to the start

Beneath my feet, nothing seems to stay
Just a shade of this fool's gold
Pushing all the dust away
So many mirrors on the road

--------------------------------
Why I do, What I do, When I do it
What do I do when I'm asked to show it
Darkest days blend into the night
I still fall apart when everything's right

-----------------------------------

Things aren't good but they were never bad
Still keep hiding from all the rules
Every second chance I've had
Just keep brushing off my boots

-----------------------------------------
Why I do, What I do, When I do it
What do I do when I'm asked to show it
Darkest days blend into the night
I still fall apart when everything's right

-----------------------------------------

A handful of quarters, and a naked song, don't answer the question of where we belong.

hi there

what you have written is really nice but one thing , in your explaination :

"Its about this guy who does not want to lead a normal life(jobs, wife, kids etc.) because he gets scared when things feel good. "

I don't get the connection , the lyrics paint a picture of this man walking around and everything falling down around him , ( is that him getting scared ?)

Or is that how his life is going with everything around him falling down ?

sorry to be so negative

your song would have been better for me if I did not read your explaination

I think it is really good

cheers

Great song, the chorus makes the song. Seems like the guy in the song has made somewhat of a mess with his life maybe as a way to not have to get close to any body? :?:

hi:)

the last two lines of the chorus are really beautiful :D the first two lines make a rhythm that somehow sounds familiar to me...? I dunno..thought about it and the only thing that came to my mind was 3 doors down. but that doesn't seem to be likely.. I really dunno;)

and I really like the story of it, too. can identify with it......

cheers,

I'll have to break with the others, I guess. The chorus seemed awkward to me. However, I loved the verses. And the second one, I think is absolutely beautiful.

wow. lol that was amazing! A little on the short side.. it seems to trail off a little, maybe add a bridge or an ending verse?

Why I do, What I do, When I do it
What do I do when I'm asked to show it

I like this, it's catchy. If you ever do a rewrite, I wouldnt change this.

Beneath my feet, nothing seems to stay
Just a shade of this fool's gold
Pushing all the dust away
So many mirrors on the road

Is this verse one of the indicators to your explanation? 'fools gold' could refer to 'family', called a fools gold here cos he believes he doesn't deserve it when good things (like a families love) happen to him? (thus the 'shade') just a thought, tell me if I'm wrong.

Overall, a great song, what type of music were you thinking?

Jacqui :)

you're kinda right about the fool's gold except its more in general like family, friends, work or whatever blinds you to the rest of the world.

i don't know about the music, i had a tune in mind when i wrote it but i completely forgot. its kinda slowed down and mellow with pianos and wurlitzers amd stuff. don't know if i can work that in though
