Interesting assignment. First thing that came to mind was a C&W song from the 90's....I was watching the CTV channel one day in the pub when a record came on called "Every Time She Passes By" which seems to have inspired this. I have - for once - stuck strictly to the letter of the assignment, although I reckon the chorus would flow more smoothly with a slightly different first line...."I won't change, I won't change" rather than the oft-repeated "I won't change for anyone" - to my mind it adds slightly more emphasis, especially as the music I have in mind changes from strummed chords to a sort of choppy stop-start riff. Anyway, for better or worse, here we go.......
I Won't Change For Anyone.
You think I'm in the palm of your hand,
But I won't change for anyone,
You think you'll mould me into a new man,
But I won't change for anyone,
You're always right, I'm always wrong,
But I won't change for anyone,
You say I'm a cliched rock'n'roll song,
But I won't change for anyone,
I won't change for anyone,
No I won't change for anyone,
I'm my own man and I'll do what I want,
And I won't change for anyone.
You want me to wear a shirt and a tie,
But I won't change for anyone,
I'll wear jeans and a t-shirt till I die
No I won't change for anyone,
My smoking and drinking grate on you,
But I won't change for anyone,
If you don't like it you know what to do,
'Cause I won't change for anyone.
I won't change for anyone,
No I won't change for anyone,
I'm my own man and I'll do what I want,
And I won't change for anyone.
(Bridge) I won't change for anyone,
No I won't change for anyone,
I'll live my life the way I want,
And I won't change for anyone.....
(Change of key for last chorus, from A to B...)
I won't change for anyone,
No I won't change for anyone,
I'm my own man and I'll do what I want,
And I won't change for anyone.

Hi Vic,
Nice to see you around these parts again. Great song! It's very Vic.
I especially like this verse . . .
You want me to wear a shirt and a tie,
But I won't change for anyone,
I'll wear jeans and a t-shirt till I die
No I won't change for anyone,
My smoking and drinking grate on you,
But I won't change for anyone,
If you don't like it you know what to do,
'Cause I won't change for anyone.
Only thing that comes to mind in the way of a suggestion . . . . . I don't think you need the "but" or "no" before the line "I won't change for anyone." It might be cleaner and make a stronger statement.
Would love to hear it put to music.
Neil
Hi Vic,
Well done
Would love to hear it put to music.
+1
Thanks for sharing. :D

Bravo Vic! Glad to see you back on board. Write what you know, they say! I have a mental picture of you flipping the bird on this one!
Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.
Great job! I'm hearing something like Alice Cooper's "School's Out." Just shows how old I am. Otherwise something more contemporary would come to mind.

Have you wor.d up a score for this? It reads well and certainly fits the C&W genre/
