Greetings

The Muse has been good to me this week. She gifted me
with most of this song Friday on my drive home from work.

It semmed somewhat unfinished ( like it needed something more)
After reading this weeks assignment I thought a Bridge may be the
answer , and then I could "kill two birds with one stone", as they say.

I know it's cheating a bit using previously written material but I
think it fits well enough.

It's one of those trying to remember to forget Country songs.

The Hardest Part

I hardly have a reason and I can
barely find a ryhme
To write another song about those days
when you were mine

I could give into depression thinking
about the past
To find the hardest part of loving you
is just how long it lasts

You know I've done some foolish things and
told too many lies
But the cruelest things I ever did were those
times I made you cry

I should have been a better man not have lived
my life so fast
And now the hardest part of loving you
is just how long it lasts

( Bridge )
----------------------------------------------------------
Every day I thank the Lord above for those days
spent in your charm
Every night I dream you're lying in my arms

I know that dream's impossible the final
die's been cast
Still the hardest part of loving you
is just how long it lasts
-----------------------------------------------------------

I wrote another song about those days
when you were mine
I still don't know the reason but somehow
found a rhyme

Every time I write a love song I swear
you're in the past
That's when the hardest part of loving you
is just how long it lasts

Hi Celt

Well up to your usual high standard.

Very lyrical with an immediate impact. Holds you right from the start and keeps you until you've finished reading it.

Good interpretation for this assignment and I don't think it's cheating to use previously written material if it fits and helps get something on to the page.

Bridge works well. Little diversion and then ties staright back to the song.

Like it.

Good stuff

Bob

I really like this a lot, Celt. Only thing that bugged me was the word "last." Could you stick an "s" on there? The rhyme'll still work, and it won't sound like you were trying to make it rhyme. Other than that, I think it's excellent. One of my favorite so far. Well done.

Joe

Thank You Guys

It was nice to be able to take a piece of "inspired"
songwriting and combine it with some "craftmanship"
songwriting to make it fit the assignment.

DONE That's the way I meant it to be just needed someone with a
good eye to catch it for me. Thanks

Hi'a Celt,

Love the guitaring, it fits the lovely lyrics so well, a bit dissapointed not to be hearing an irish accent ( considering your nick) but the sound was grand altogether !!!!! :D

Jamir,

Welcome Back

You are always missed when you're away from the Forum
for a while.

Thank's for the comments and sorry to disappoint you
about the accent. Unfortunately I'm two generations
removed from that , but my Grandma had quite the
brough.(hope I spelt that right)

Anyways now that you mention my nick name I guess now
is as a good a time as any to do what I've been planning.

My plan is "kill off" The Celt and start taking more personal
responsibilty for my own work.
Step one was to move everything on my
Soundclick site into my own name. Which you see is done
So now all I have to do is start signing my post with my name.

After a year on the forum and a couple confusions as to gender
I feel it's time to quit hiding behind an alter ego.

The Celt will remain as my "nick" on the forums but from now on
I will be signing my post as John. It's a fine name so why shouldn't
I be using it.

Hey John,

Great melody, great guitar work.

It may be, as you said, one of those trying to remember to forget Country songs, but it's not obnoxiously cliche and it sure connects with my experience.

Hi John,

Like the change to "lasts". Great guitar!

Your song reminds me of old country song. With all the pop incorporated in the new country it's nice to hear your tune. Great job. G. :)

Excellent lyrics...unfortunately, can't hear the MP3  still having problems with soundclick, I think I'm going to have to go right through every program on this computer to find out what's blocking it....think it may be a stray pop-up blocker file I installed, have to see if I can find it...

As regards name-change, why bother? We all know you as Celt, we can hear (well some of us can!!!) the Celtic influences, if you really want to change it why not "John....the Artist formerly known as Celt?"

Seems like we share the same heritage - my old granny was Irish, from Dun Laoghaire - I also have an Irish son-in-law, and a half-irish grandson....(I know you shouldn't have favourites, but he learned my name before he even learned "mum" and "dad")...and surprise, surprise, his name is Patrick....he loves bashing away at my guitars, keyboard and harmonicas....and surprise, surprise, I love him to bits....

:D :D :D

Bic

(Well, that's what Patrick calls me....)

have to see if I can find a photo....I had a lovely one of him I took on my old mobile phone, he was sat on my chair with my guitar bashing the hell out of it with a steel slide...sigh...I guess he's just one of nature's drummers....
