Hi
Well I manage to find a little time to keep writing
even with everything that's going on around in my life.
I guess it's good therapy to get out some of my feelings
in the form of another character for awhile.
I don't know how well I did on the activity part but the idea
is that it's about a person playing and singing for tips in the
subway and his observations on the people he sees and hears.
The rhyme scheme is ABCB and I think I got that right.
Some Folks
(Observations of a Subway Singer)
Some folks barely give a glance
As they're rushing for the train
There's something more than my sad song
To occupy their brains
Some folks throw a dollar down
Just to ease their weary souls
Somehow it's the smallest wounds
That leave the biggest holes
Some folks say it's greed and lust
That is the latest fashion
Sometimes it's against the trends
That's where you'll find your passion
Some folks try to make a buck
When the wolves are at the gate
They sometimes claim to teach of love
While all they show is hate
Some folks couldn't see the truth
If it were to stare them in the face
Somethings they don't understand
Like dignity and grace
Some folks think they're always right
'til their backed against the wall
Sometimes they can't see the edge
They see the pride before the fall
Some folks try to take a stand
They try to fill some kind of need
They somehow know the dif'rence
'tween the flower and the seed
Some folks need to look behind
Maybe learn just where we've been
Someone has to help them see
Beyond their cold and selfish ends
Some folks say it's greed and lust
That is the latest fashion
Sometimes it's against the trends
That's where you'll find your passion
Some folks say I'm crazy
Some folks think I'm sane
Some folks look the other way
Some folks feel my pain
Some folks take to whiskey
Some folks turn to pills
Some folks find religion
Some folks lose their wills
Some folks make me thank the Lord that I'm not at all like them .

John, I am a little bit envious and a little bit embarrassed that in all that you have going on, you still can make time to put out a terrific song while I sit around complaining that I cant find a thing to write about. This is fabulous. I especially like the part I quoted.

That's great, John. I liked it when I read the title, and it just got better. Just fix your typo here....
As their rushing for the train
As they're rushing for the train
Other than that, no complaints from me. Well done.

Hi John,
I like the song; the only thing that I would say is that it might be a little long. I'm assuming that stanzas 3 & 9 are the chorus and that 10 & 11 are a bridge/outro. I just wonder whether 10 & 11 wouldn't be better placed in the body of the song to give some relief from all those verses.
Other than that it works for me,
cheers

hey:)
I gotta second geoo's comment- I love the song and especially the part he quoted;)
just to drop you a quick line, I like it a lot.
cheers,

It's great that you're writing now, but yeah, might work as therapy.
At first I thought wow what a sad view on the world. Even worse is that it's true, that a lot of people are like that.
Great work. It might be long as pbee says, but I can't really care. It's good the way it is to me.
