This one goes out to our friend Vic Lewis as he recovers
from his injuries to his left hand.

MP3

One Step At A Time

One step at a time
The start to every uphill climb
Goals that can't be reached today
Tomorrow will be yesterday's

One step at a time
Moving forward doing fine
The road gets rough along the way
But you grow stronger every day

May your heart be strong
For healing always takes too long
Have the strength to perceiver
The will to push beyond your fears

One step at a time
The start to every uphill climb
Goals that can't be reached today
Tomorrow will be yesterday's

One step at a time
Moving forward doing fine
The road gets rough along the way
But you grow stronger every day

Working through the pain
Enough to drive a man insane
Tired sore your muscles ache
But you know what it will take

One step at a time
The start to every uphill climb
Goals that can't be reached today
Tomorrow will be yesterday's

One step at a time
Moving forward doing fine
The road gets rough along the way
But you grow stronger every day

One step Just one step.........

One step at a time
The start to every uphill climb
Goals that can't be reached today
Tomorrow will be yesterday's

Get Well Soon Vic

Hey listening to the mp3, I think the vocal melody would really benefit from holding the notes at the end of the lines, like

Have the strength to per-cei-ver you know hit three notes on perceiver instead of saying it quickly, you should give it a shot and see what you think.

And nothing is worse then a hand injury to a guitarist haha I broke my wrist snowboarding awhile back its like being in prison.

Dneck,

Thanks for the comments.

I understand what you are saying but I have limited vocal
ability and am not sure I could pull it off. If I get a chance
I may attempt it anyways.

I once suffered 2nd degree burns to my left hand and that
was bad enough. Vic put his hand through a plate glass
window and has 282 stitches. Keep him in your thoughts

Hi John,

I share the sentiment of this song, hang in there Vic. As far as the song is concerned, I think its fine as it is, good work, although there was 1 line that made be think.
This one:
But you know what it will take
I think if it was mine Id change it to
But you know that it will take

This way it flows into to chorus better, its pretty trivial really and just a thought I had that Im sharing with you.

Cheers

Paul

Hi John

Really liked the presentation on this. Reminds me a lot of another John by the name of Prine. He'd be proud of you.

When listening to the "chorus" section, though, I kept wanting to hear the second stanza sung a little differently:
One step at a time
Moving forward doing fine
The road gets rough along the way
But you grow stronger every day

For whatever reason, I hear the chord changes earlier in the second and fourth lines. Are you playing this in G? If so, it would be like this:

(G) One step at a (D) time
Moving (C) forward (G) doing fine

And then in the last line I'd move it back to G (or whatever the root / tonic is) in order to give it more punch:

But you grow (C) stronger (D) every (G) day

Another reason for this is that it breaks up your strumming pattern somewhat and I think that keeps the listener on his or her toes.

This isn't to say I don't like it as it is! It's just what I caught myself singing when singing along with it.

And this must be the week for catchy tunes. I've been singing either this or Worry for the past two days now!

As always, looking forward to more.

Peace

Hi Celt

Great opening lines - the MP3 is great - I reckon you've more vocal ability than you give yourself credit for

Sounds good - wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment behind the song - I once scalded my left hand and had to have it in a protective plastic glove for 3 weeks - interesting times

Love the song as usual for your stuff.

Bob
