Here are what Ive come up with so far
Kathriech - Before I Met You
(Pretty standard relationship stuff)
Before I met you life was fine
I sang and danced I drank the wine
And lovers I'd say I had a few
That was all before I met you
Chefie - Funny
( I was stumped on this one until David mentioned Warren Zevon)
Funny how you always said
I'd be the last to go
Funny how a twist of fate
Can end this one man show
Funny how you never know
What tomorrow has to bring
Funny how much yesterday
Doesn't mean a thing

Annie's Couch
( I actually have a whole set of lyrics for this one but lets see where it goes.
Something along the lines of Bare Naked Ladies "Old Apartment" )
I sat down on Annie's couch
I sat right there and cried
Remembering every time I hurt her
Every time I lied
I sat down on Annie's couch
And shed more than a tear
If I had been less of a fool
Would Annie still be here?

Hi John
Strange as it may sound, Before I Met You reminded me of Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out, simply because of the use of the word "wine," I think. This might easily become a kind of blues / Tin Pan Alley hybrid before it's done...
I really liked what you did with Funny. The second stanza especially is fine. The end of the first one might stand a little tweaking (I'm having trouble with the last two lines and the connecting "twist of fate" to "one man show"), but it's a good start.
And Annie's Couch is cool, too. Maybe I should submit these chorus lyrics (with slight changes, of course) as my own so you can submit your verse lyrics?
Of course, Bob's no slouch - he may have us all writing complete songs for the big Week 52 finale!
Peace
Hi John,
Before I met you life was fine
I sang and danced I drank the wine
And lovers I'd say I had a few
That was all before I met you
Pretty standard? , yes I would agree, but it does leave room for the next person to take this song anywhere really, which is a good thing in this exercise.
Funny how you always said
I'd be the last to go
Funny how a twist of fate
Can end this one man show
Funny how you never know
What tomorrow has to bring
Funny how much yesterday
Doesn't mean a thing
I really like what you've done here, good job.
I sat down on Annie's couch
I sat right there and cried
Remembering every time I hurt her
Every time I lied
I sat down on Annie's couch
And shed more than a tear
If I had been less of a fool
Would Annie still be here?
This also works for me, I might be inclined to change the 2nd to last line though
I sat down on Annie's couch
And shed more than a tear
And had I been less of a fool
Would Annie still be here?
Cheers
Paul
Hi John

Great opening lines. :D I stumbled a bit on the third line, but nothing that a good singer or a bit of editing wouldn't fix.
Chefie - Funny
Funny how you always said

Can end this one man show
Funny how you never know

Top stuff! Kind of topical round our place too as we creak into the later years... The only line that stopped me a little was "Can end this one man show". I wanted to tweak it slightly - but I can't say how, or what to, so that's not much use I guess... :(
Chris C -Annie's Couch

Remembering every time I hurt her
Every time I lied

Splendid! :D Great to see the idea taken beyond the more obvious things that could have happened on Annie's couch.
Cheers,
Chris
Thanks All,
As far a any tweaking goes I see these a sketches an know that some body may be taking
these and developing them into a song let's leave that up to them.
Although I do like Paul's suggestion on Funny.
