I haven't had much time to write songs lately as I've been concentrating on my playing. Thank's to David (dhodge) and his book I've been become interested in the Bass guitar, so much so that I bought one and have been working through his book. I've also just about nailed Ry Cooder's “Into the Purple Valley†CD playing my own (very simple I might add) bass lines to his songs (also thanks to Laz and his “Box†concept). The mp3 for this song is special coz it's the first time I've ever played the bass on an mp3 as well as the guitar, so David, you can chalk up a victory in terms of another convert.
Anyway here's this weeks song

Look at me
© Copyright 2006 Paul Brady
Look at me, look at me
See who I am
I'm your one, I'm your one
I'm your man
From strange beginnings
That was my birth
Another chance at life
For what it was worth
And schoolboy days of doubt
With not a lot to say
When will the man come out
To play, to play, to play
Look at me, look at me
See who I am
I'm your one, I'm your one
I'm your man
And then to share
A life of love
A two born legacy
Gifts from above
Late passion flares
Through tonic ways
This man at last is out
To play, to play, to play
Look at me, look at me
See who I am
I'm your one, I'm your one
I'm your man
Look at me, look at me
See who I am
I'm your one, I'm your one
I'm your man

Very nice. Meter, rhyme pattern, lyrics, all excellent.
If I could put my finger on one thing, it would be that there was not a
whole lot of variation in the verse and chorus. I don't even know if it is worth addressing?
Enjoyed it.
Blessings. Olav
Paul,
I think it's been apx 6 months since I've been around and wow you've really improved. Very inspiring, I've got hope.
I don't really think I can add anything other than to say good job. Really enjoyed the listen. Thanks, Gwynne.
Thanks all,
Olav,
was not a whole lot of variation in the verse and chorus
Yes I must admit that thought crossed my mind.
Hey Peter, good to see you again, yeah it was a typo. I find if you mix a bit of Gin with those Tonics (with ice and a slice) it gets even better   .
Gwynne, nice to see you back, thanks for the compliment, I've been trying to bend the rules a little bit in the last year, just to see what works and what doesn't .
Cheers
Paul
Paul,
I got a little quiet time and had a listen to this.
Not much to add except I like it and the bass sounds real nice.
John
Not much to add to what's been written above.....
The MP3's good, your style of delivery complements the guitar and bass nicely - hey, you're getting a pretty good collection of songs on that soundclick site!!!
Keep 'em coming Paul....
:D :D :D

Hi Paul
Sorry computor died on me so I was off line for ages and my work has now put a ban on me visiting non work related sites , I told them GN is my work I only go to QR for a rest period ...( that wasn't taken too well )
I really like this mate I had it playing pretty loud and Trudy guessed who was singing straight away ....( fans )
I really did enjoy your playing and the strum pattern sounded soo nice
well done mate
Trev
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
one question, "Though tonic ways " is that meant to be "through" ?
Yes, I strugggled with that too.
Otherwise, I think it's fine. I'll try and have a listen to the mp3 later

Seems like all round approval - count me in I really liked it - MP3 is up to your usual high standard and bass sounds good on it as well.
Great stuff
Bob
You are what you eat, eat well
Hi Paul
Haven't been able to get my computer to download the MP3 yet, but I'll keep at it.
The only thing I'd suggest is maybe using "a twice born legacy" instead of "a two born legacy," simply because I think it sounds less confusing but that's a very minor quibble.
Happy New SSG Year 5 to you, sir, and I look forward to more. And thanks, too, for the kudos. Looking forward to hearing your bass playing.
Peace
