Well I haven't been posting much, because to be honest, I haven't been writing much! It sucks! I've been looking for different topics to write about, but my life is being too repetitve! I thought this was a great assignment because while I was looking up some famous quotes I got some more ideas. One quote really caught my eye, due to my situation, so I wrote on it.

"The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work."
- Emile Zola (1840-1902)

Ink Block
Well I had a talent that turned into prowess.
I have a dream that I would like to progress.
My inertia can't stand alone with much success.
The phantom of my mind has left me with my artist.

My muse is gone.
I'm all out of paint.
My mind is rusting.
It fights with this strain.
How can I work if nothing inspires?
How can I cure if I have nothing to heal?
What do I fight when I've met all desires?
How do I write if I have nothing to feel?

My work has to bring out my gift.
My ideas are the only things that are hollow.
Am I really craving a conflict?
Or is it my time to drop the lead and just follow?

My muse is gone.
I'm all out of paint.
My mind is rusting.
It fights with this strain.
How can I work if nothing inspires?
How can I cure if I have nothing to heal?
What do I fight when I've met all desires?
How do I write if I have nothing to feel?

Trying a way to leave my mark.
I've found a way, just need my spark.
Brilliance past, is the future gone?
Running out of fuel to feed my songs.
Cored out and blank is all that I think.
Thousands of papers, but all out of ink.

My muse is gone.
I'm all out of paint.
My mind is rusting.
It fights with this strain.
How can I work if nothing inspires?
How can I cure if I have nothing to heal?
What do I fight when I've met all desires?
How do I write if I have nothing to feel?

There's a thin fine line between hate and rage.
Now watch the line be crossed and break!

That was pretty cool. And there are lots of good lines, but something about this one really struck me--

"Cored out and blank is all that I think.
Thousands of papers, but all out of ink."

That's great.

And I'm sorry, I'm a little brain dead this week--I just got the title. Great!

Thanks for your post. Yeah that one is my favorite lie too.

Pierson,

Good stuff! I like the chorus and the way you
managed to turn writers block into a song.

One thing I don't quite get
My inert can't stand alone with much success

Could you have meant "inertia" ?

Yes I did, actually. Thanks for the correction.

Also, I was thinking of changing the name, but since you guys seem to like it I guess I'll keep it. But any suggestions are always welcome!
