I'm not sure which direction I'm going with this yet.
It could be a folksy type thing or may end up more as a
Indie Rock kind of thing.
I'm a bit worried it may be too many choruses but if I
go with the Indie feel there will be some instrumental breaks.
I went with the Indie and yes I know the solo quotes heavily from
The Ventures - Pipeline.
It's Too Early
Wake up in the morning
Stumble out of bed
Listen to the silence
Clear my weary head
It's too early in the morning
Too early for love too early for hate
Too early gotta move before it's too late
Sit down at the table
Smoke that first cigarette
Second cup of coffee
Sun ain't showed it's face yet
It's too early in the morning
Too early for love too early for hate
Too early gotta move before it's too late
Step into the shower
Feel it's saving grace
Look into the mirror
Scrape the beard off my face
It's too early in the morning
Too early for love too early for hate
Too early gotta move before it's too late
Kiss my sleeping lady
Relish in the sight
Of her safe and warm
To her it's still the night
It's too early in the morning
Too early for love too early for hate
Too early gotta move before it's too late
It's too early,,,,,
John
When I listened to this John it was too early in the morning after finishing work at 4 am and reading and listening to it at 9 am ..
Love tone of your guitar ..
And tune is terrific
AND that riff you got happening is awesome
Sit down at the table
Smoke that first cigarette
Second cup of coffee
Sun ain't showed it's face yet
Is me every Sunday morning
{ change coffee to cup of tea or can of coke }
Very well done
Trev....
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Mornings are too early for me these days - I tend to lie in whenever I can....
Hell, John, I love the MP3.....
I'd love to hear the chorus done Mamas and Papas style with harmony vocals.....that'd take it out of the "good song" bracket and lift it to a higher plane.....don't any of the daughters - or Mrs Celt - sing?
Nice riff, nice lead too......yep, you got another good one here!
:D :D :D

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
I liked for the most part. One change I would to the last line of the chorus that jumped out at me:
"too early gotta move before it's too late"
becomes
"too early to move before it's too late"
Given the way you were singing it, I think this sounds a bit better with you meter.
All in all good job!
I actually think you've got a good song struture set up there.
The fact that your chorus is only 3 lines long means that a few repititions of it are not labourious to listen to, and in fact help to emphasise what the song is about i.e. the horrible feeling of getting up before dawn
I agree with Trev about your guitar tone / music as well.
All in all, a great job :)

Great one John. I agree with every one else that the music is very good also 8) --ken
True confessions: I haven't listened to the MP3 yet. I wanted to read it through first, then I'll see how wrong I was.
Initial thoughts, the line:
"Too early gotta move before it's too late" -- I love that line.
Folk / indie rock, -- I can't wait to hear this. Because as I was reading it, I had a total blues feel going on. Like a John Lee Hooker - Delta blues feel.
Anyways, I always love reading your stuff, and this was right up there. Now I'm going to go give it a listen.
You know anything John does is going to have at least on foot on the bluesy path 8) Although as an indie tune its pretty cool. I like indie stuff butt have never really had a handle on writing in that style  --ken
Well Thank You Everybody,
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I found this one to be quite challenging
and fun at the same time.
Vic,I would love it if I could get some harmony on this.
I tried to convince my wife to try something before but to no avail.
Maybe it's time to make another pitch.
I really didn't try to write this in the Indie genre the song just
wanted to go that way.
The tone on the guitar was pretty simple I just plugged my SG
into my Princeton 65 clean and adjusted for different tracks by
switching pick up position and small tone and volume adjustments
at the guitar.
Thanks Dog for that "at least on foot on the bluesy path" compliment.
That means alot to me.
John
Celt
I like it a lot
Like the soloing, fit nicely in with the melody.
Very well done
Blessings.
