Okay,

Easily the toughest assignment I've tried to tackle in SSG in the three years I've plugged in. My choice to emulate was Vic. And in no way could I produce anything musically that would approach Vic's musicianship. Still, here's my go at it. Interested in what everyone thinks, especially you, Vic.

ROCK 'N ROLL MAN

I was a rock'n roll baby
now a rock'n roll man
and what I try to do baby
is to rock'n roll as often as I can

some days the clouds are above me
thing are not like I'd choose
so I do what I can, baby,
on those days I play dem rock'n roll blues

rock'n roll blues
rock'n roll blues
as long as I'm playing something
I know I can't loose

it's in my blood
it's in my soul
I can't live without it
wouldn't you know

I can't make any money
playing this old rock ‘n roll
so what I end up doing honey
is to do exactly what I'm told

I'm a rock ‘n roll boy
not a rock ‘n roll toy
and the reason I do it
cause it's something I enjoy

I was a rock'n roll baby
now a rock'n roll man
and what I try to do baby
is to rock'n roll as often as I can

Hah! You got me down to a tee, didn't you! Rock'n'roll first and everything else second........

Very little I'd change....maybe in this part,

"it's in my blood
it's in my soul
I can't live without it
wouldn't you know"

I might change the last line to something like, "I'd rather be in a hole"....(about 6 feet deep).....

and possibly here,

"I can't make any money
playing this old rock ‘n roll
so what I end up doing honey
is to do exactly what I'm told"

something like,

"I can't make any money
playing this old rock ‘n roll
Cause I won't compromise,
and I won't do what I'm told...."

but yes, Neil, you've covered all the bases.....am I that obvious!

Now all you need to do it justice is an electric guitar, a nice amp, crank the gain up a little, er all the way up, and let 'er rip!

:D :D :D

Thanks Vic!

And I especially like your suggestions for the rewrite. Afterall, you are the expert on you! So, since I'm incapable of doing musically what you would do, I'd love to hear how you would do it.
Whatcha say?

OMG!!! This song is so totally Vic! I agree with him on the small changes, too.

I think that Neil wins the "totally out of the box" award for the year!

Did you have as much fun playing and singing this as it sounds like you did?

Nice rewrites from Vic and I think this one's good to go. Are we going to get Vic's version?

Peace
