Do not get a Strat acoustic or whatever they are called.Thin, ugly sounding things (like most Fender acoustic guitars (IMO) , but worse, much worse.)
I'm a big fan of Electro-Harmonix preamp tubes and JJ power tubes - can't go wrong with that combo.Make sure you have your amp re-biased after changin...
My opinion is get a Mexi strat and replace the pickups...But if I were you I'd build one with parts from Warmoth.
